for A 2d boss rush games this one is my favourite so far. what makes this game combat system unique is the charge shot, where it allows you to do multiple of things at once, where you can use it to buff the melee damage, or use it to use the bosses attacks to damage the boss such as you can hack the landmines or drones to remove them from the arena, or to attack the boss which can help you be less overwhelmed. and also the grapple hook move that flat out gets you close to the boss and do a ton of damage, and the grapple hook gives you i frames being a life saver, and you need to make these decisions really quickly since this is a very fast paced game, the bosses give you almost 0 time to react. every boss battle is well designed, and has a ton of replay value. the narrative is decent for what its going for, the problem is due to how short this game is it gives you 0 time to have character development. my negative for this game is it's A really short game, the only reason it taken me 4 or 5 hours to beat this game is i kept dying to the final boss over and over again, since the final boss is the biggest difficulty jump in the game, and it's not because it only has 6 bosses,…

This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ beautiful. In both design and presentation. Firstly, performance and feel. The game runs at a smooth framerate so the combat mechanics are insanely satisfying. That said, the parrying and impact frames are absolutely master-class. Dodging felt good and the telegraphs for (most) attacks were amazing (reel back, glint to indicate when to parry, strike). The boss designs (both gameplay and look - by the way, the art is amazing!) were well executed and unique. I came to this game hoping for this type of parry & mastery gameplay so this really scratched the itch of an old game I played. I'll be perfecting all of the bosses. Secondly, while the pacing felt a bit off (though that was likely due to me absolutely bulldozing the bosses) the story itself is great, with a bitter-sweet resolved yet tense ending sequence. Honestly, the hing that leaves me disappointed about this game is that there wasn't *more*!! I was half hoping for an extra post-final boss but that's just me. In theory, a pure boss rush game with high quality tight combat sounds great... unfortunately, it's got some bugs and issues, that result in it feeling more frustrating than satisfying overall. Upon beating the final boss, and at least two others, I wasn't satisfied or pumped... I was just thank god it's over feeling.... So, on the upside, the design idea itself is... mostly good, boss fights have a nice set of moves that in theory are good to fight and learn counters to, etc... there are a few that don't really feel as fair or good (final boss having the same moves that change their timing between phases requiring you to retrain your timing to match being a good example of just bad feeling stuff), but that's the minority. If polished, most of it could be good. The problems though... are not few. First, and ever present, are the collisions. They are not very readable, they go for a slightly angled looking perspective, not top down, not from the side, more of a diagonal. Ok, good angle for some cool visuals and stuff, unfortunately they fall into many traps of this. Attacks and projectiles that collide... where? At the ground under them? This game is not for the faint of heart. Awesome pixel art. Smooth and responsive combat. And the bosses....where do I even start with the bosses. This game is super solid and I'd recommend getting it especially if its on sale.

Brilliant boss rush game. Quite difficult and very addictive.

Very fun game with a great short story. The bosses are challenging but fair, and it's worth every penny. Most importantly, you can get a hug and a warm headpat from Onee-chan. 10/10
