It feels weird to be writing this, but this game takes TOO MUCH focus. It's supposed to be a cute game that runs in the bottom of your screen while you work, except your pet is constantly pooping or fighting and dying or there are events happening every minute or two that you need to check on. This isn't what I wanted.

I like the game well enough but you really have to be able to turn off the feature where your nanomon die, I bought it because I thought I could keep one slugcat pet in the corner of my screen forever as a tamagotchi (I'm certain I spelled that wrong) but after a pretty damn short time your nanomon just... die. which sucks.

Nanomon Virtual Pet, developed by Oscar Brittain and published by Akupara Games, reimagines the classic virtual pet concept in a way that feels both nostalgic and quietly modern. Instead of confining the experience to a dedicated game window, it lives alongside your everyday computer use, occupying a small space on your desktop and evolving in real time as you go about other tasks. This design choice defines the entire experience, turning the game into something less like a traditional time commitment and more like a persistent digital companion. At its foundation, the gameplay revolves around raising and caring for a small creature known as a Nanomon. Players are responsible for maintaining its core needs—feeding it, keeping it healthy, and ensuring its overall well-being—while gradually guiding it through different stages of growth. These systems are simple and easy to understand, echoing the mechanics of classic virtual pets, but they are supported by a broader progression structure that allows each Nanomon to evolve into new forms. Watching these transformations unfold over time creates a steady sense of reward, even though the individual actions required to reach them remain …

I was missing this game! I played it on Opera GX Game Corner but them I couldn't remind its name. It's nice to see it on Steam. For those who was missing a care pet game or idle game, this one is awesome. I like the mechs and the classic 8 bit visual for this one. There are a lot of minigames to increase your pet stats, and acquire resources. Nice way to pass time.

The game is simply too repetitive. You start off as a slime then grow into a theme and then another them to mix and combine or keep the same theming and eventually die and start all over again. Honestly, I wouldn't have minded if it takes a decent amount of time before your character dies, but if you keep it constantly running, I feel your character dies 2 or 3 times in one day. Plus the stats don't carry over whatsoever so it feels you're going to have to keep growing new pets everytime! Maybe if the lifespan was just a teeny bit longer, this would have been okay and tolerable and if something about the pet carries over. But for what it is, I find it really off putting to continue playing.

its well made, and a solid product. fun game even. but its not an idle game in the lightest. it constantly wants your full attention.
