Becomes a slog after a while. Essentially it boils down to if you absolutely love the battle system or not. The combat is 95% of the game since there's little-to-no exploration and only bits of dialogue at key scenes. I wanted to be the first person to report a completion time in HLTB, but I just couldn't make it. I got to Osiris's realm and after a while of walking and fighting through the desert it just didn't work for me anymore. The humor is cute enough, but the quirks in the script writing (ESL writer?) can get a little annoying. I'd give this maybe 3-4/10. Not abysmal, but not worth completing.2 found this helpful
Necro Story delivers a refreshing twist on the fantasy RPG formula by casting players as a necromancer who is far from the typical villain. Rather than pursuing conquest through fear alone, the protagonist embarks on a humorous adventure alongside the ghost of a former white mage, creating an unlikely partnership filled with witty dialogue and entertaining interactions. The game's narrative embraces a playful tone while still presenting an engaging fantasy world, allowing its dark themes to feel charming rather than oppressive. This balance between comedy and adventure gives the story a distinctive personality that keeps it enjoyable from beginning to end. Instead of simply defeating monsters, the game's central mechanic revolves around harvesting their souls and recruiting them into your ever-growing undead army. This clever system transforms fallen enemies into valuable allies, encouraging players to continuously expand and experiment with their roster. Every newly acquired companion offers different abilities and strategic advantages, making team composition an important part of progression. The constant reward of discovering and collecting new souls creates an addictive gamepl…1 found this helpful
More fun than the dev's previous work, Healer's Quest. Lot of party flexibility, good array of difficulty settings, and very few of the achievements require luck - you'll get most of them by simply being thorough.1 found this helpful
Finished the game. Died a lot so i didnt get the "good" ending. Its a cute game but the difficulty balance is messed up. The combat was so repetitive that i really dont feel like playing it again. As much as i like the dev and the previous game Healer's Quest, i still cant recommend this one. The humor is cute and the game animation is unique and cool, but the gameplay is just totally F-ed up. I hate to say it but i gotta be honest - i was so glad it was over.
Good so far, only 2 complaints Souls fly off screen almost instantly at times (needs be slower) leveling is way to slow (needs to be faster). On hard mode my troops die after one fight, progressing through multiple floors, and multiple fights is impossible without spending time leveling up, but then that goes back to the issue of leveling being slow.
This game is extremely fun to play and surprises you in unexpected ways with the combat and following the storyline seemed to pull you into the dynamic of the 2 main characters. Many hours of fun and the artwork is pleasing throughout the game. But, at the 3rd Demon Tower it keeps crashing on me.... unfortunate.
