Nelli The Seer

Nelli The Seer is a really charming little platformer that I enjoyed more than I expected. I play as Nelli, a former Aztec warrior who receives the ability to see the future and sets out into the Templo Mayor to recover the pieces of a sacred obsidian mirror. I liked the historical setting because it gives the adventure a much stronger identity than the usual fantasy platformer. The platforming is simple but enjoyable. I can jump, climb, crouch and later glide through the temple, with different movement abilities opening up new areas. I liked the way the game encourages me to explore rather than simply running straight toward the next objective. The temple is filled with platforms, mechanisms and hidden paths, so even basic movement can feel rewarding when I figure out how everything connects. The foresight mechanic is easily my favorite idea. Nelli can use special vision altars to glimpse what is going to happen in an area, revealing traps and safe paths that are not immediately obvious. I enjoyed having to remember what I saw and then use that information when navigating the level. It turns the platforming into a small memory puzzle instead of relying only on quick reflexes. I…

This is a good first attempt at designing games. The story is acceptable, controls are weird but work as intended, but the actual world is bland and simplistic. I recommend anyone who enjoys 3D platformers try this game as it has the bones of a truly good game and might inspire others on the fence of trying to make a game to try it themselves. Worth every non-penny for this experience.

Nice game, but I have to give a bad review for a simple reason. I was in the middle of a level and then the game and I opened a box. Then the game crashed. I thought I could just click the continue button, but it doesn't exist, you have to start the level from the beginning, and it's very annoying.

Unfinishable. You will get to a point in the last level where you can't progress because there is no opening on the vines to go through the red spikes. The platforming is pretty jank but being stuck because of a game-breaking bug is beyond infuriating.

You can tell it's their first game...
