About Nelli The Seer

A STUDENT VIDEO GAME PROJECT

Nelli The Seer is a game developed by first-year students at a video game school.
The team had 14 weeks to deliver a third-person action-adventure game set in a historical temple. Game Design and Level Design students started pre-production first, followed three weeks later by the Environment Artists, Animators, and Character Riggers. The programmers joined the project seven weeks after the Game Designers.Game Design and Level Design students had seven weeks of pre-production, while the Environment Artists, Character Rigger and Animator teams had four.
Then, all teams worked together during the final seven weeks of production to complete the game. The result is a platformer blended with a memory-based puzzle game, offering about 30 minutes of gameplay.

NELLI, A FORMER AZTEC WARRIOR TURNED PRIEST

At the beginning of the 16th century, you play as Nelli, a young man from Tenochtitlan. Once a proud Aztec warrior, Nelli is granted the gift of foresight by Tezcatlipoca, the god of night and destiny. Upon discovering his new ability to see the future, he chooses to become a priest.

A DARK PROPHECY

In his final vision, Nelli sees a grim fate awaiting his people : soldiers will invade the great city of Tenochtitlan, capital of the Aztec Empire. Determined to warn his people, he seeks an audience with Emperor Moctezuma II.
However, the emperor does not believe him, Nelli’s prophecy contradicts those of the high priests.

NELLI'S QUEST

To prove his vision, Nelli ventures deep into the Templo Mayor.
His goal : to reassemble the Obsidian Mirror, a sacred relic of the Aztecs and the divine attribute of Tezcatlipoca.
Its fragments are scattered throughout the temple’s hidden chambers. Once the mirror is restored, Nelli hopes to convince the emperor of the truth.

CORE GAME MECHANICS

• Use Nelli’s athletic abilities : jump, climb, and crouch to reach areas inaccessible to ordinary people.
Activate mystical mechanisms : open ancient stone doors, move platforms, and create new paths through the temple.
• Collect the Feather Gem to gain the ability to glide. This power lets you reach normally unreachable zones and interact with objects while falling.
• Harness Nelli’s gift of foresight: lie down on vision altars to extend your view into the future. Reveal hidden spikes, avoid sudden traps, and spot disappearing platforms.
Remember trap patterns and safe paths to complete your quest and fulfill your destiny.

This is a good first attempt at designing games. The story is acceptable, controls are weird but work as intended, but the actual world is bland and simplistic. I recommend anyone who enjoys 3D platformers try this game as it has the bones of a truly good game and might inspire others on the fence of trying to make a game to try it themselves. Worth every non-penny for this experience.

Nice game, but I have to give a bad review for a simple reason. I was in the middle of a level and then the game and I opened a box. Then the game crashed. I thought I could just click the continue button, but it doesn't exist, you have to start the level from the beginning, and it's very annoying.

Unfinishable. You will get to a point in the last level where you can't progress because there is no opening on the vines to go through the red spikes. The platforming is pretty jank but being stuck because of a game-breaking bug is beyond infuriating.
