Neon Tail

So I've tried this game once every year for the last 3 years. This game is bad, like reaally bad... Movement: The game is like 90% just momentum, you have little to no actual impact on your movement the moment your character starts building up speed. It's like constantly being on ice... thats covered in lube while also being a giant ball yourself. The momentum can lead to some interesting movement here and there, but it gonna be frustrating to most players. The tricking system is also hella braindead, just flick the analog stick up and down while jumping as you're holding the manual button until you get enough points. Performance: in interior areas the game runs fine, but the moment you get to night time in the open world, the game is essentially stuck at half speed, even on the lowest settings, I have a 3060ti and can run Cyberpunk with some minor RT, this game looks like ♥♥♥♥, it should run at 60 at all time. Any other skating game out there runs better than this game. Visuals: The game can look kinda cool in high areas with the camera zoomed out, but the moment you kinda look at anything up close it just looks really bad, characters are very shiny, clothing is constantly cli…

Really unfortunate. EDIT: I'll elaborate on this a little. A lot of people bought this game when it was in early access, before the AI assets were added. I do not support the use of generative AI to replace artists, and had I known this game were to do just that, I would not have bought it. That's my fault for not reading the store page first, because I assumed the devs knew better. I'm more so writing this because other people have now unknowingly supported a game that uses AI assets, and I don't think it's fair to them that they weren't ever consulted or even warned about the use of these assets before they were added (yes, I did check the changelogs for this to make sure I was being fair), and I have a feeling the only reason the disclosure is even there is because you are required by Steam's Terms of Service to put it there or your game gets taken down. In addition, some of the AI assets were made to replace already existing assets that were... perfectly fine? So this just makes the issue much more baffling to me. I was originally going to write an honest review of this game, but I can't, not after learning this. I'm just very disappointed.

I absolutely love this game, and the devs are very kind and quick to respond to bug reports. I adore the aesthetic, music, movement mechanics, and the outfits. Even when I encountered errors, it was such a joy to play that I didn't mind waiting for the bugfix.

Just realised I haven't reviewed this yet for some reason. I've been following the work from these guys since early builds and it's always great seeing what they're doing with it, It's a really fun high energy great experience. I've only got a few hours in so far but it's been a blast playing it. I'll be getting some more time in it soon XD Would recommend. The dev's are also great for this and you can really tell this is a labour of love. Give it a go, you won't be dissappointed
