It's impossible to play alone.

this game changed my life. Despite my teammate benny boy who honestly almost threw this was quite possibly the greatest game i have ever played in my 68 years of living on planet earth, this game is truly an enigma, a gem upon gems. anyone who hasnt played NEXO quite simply hasnt lived yet, they havent found true peak, speaking of peaks this reminds me of a story i was once climbing Everest in bad weather conditions and i asked my sherpa are we at the peak yet and when he handed me NEXO i knew we were there.

This is yet another student project, one of literally thousands self-published on Steam Direct. It's from Chungkang Game School in South Korea. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" games, we must still question what value they have for gamers. This isn't a fully fleshed out game. It's the result of an academic exercise and has much more limited value than a professionally developed game. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments. It helps their marketing and makes students feel good, but it puts the business before the needs of gamers. The students made a co-op only 2.5D side scrolling platform shooter with an anime girl theme and do boss fights. It's shallow, uninspired, and the co-op requirement rendered this unplayable for the tiny number of gamers who even bothered. It also bugs me that games exactly like this one seem to be designed for consoles, but get launched on PC instead. What exactly are they teaching the students at these game dev schools? Fight to protect the city, you have to. The circle guy is out to get you

NEXO is a really fun little cooperative shooter, and I liked how quickly it gets to the point. I play as one of two rookie police officers who wake up a mysterious core during an operation, only to discover that an alien lifeform is threatening Earth. The story is simple, but the futuristic city and colorful characters give the game a lot of charm. The combat is built around side scrolling shooting, with each character having a normal attack and a special attack. I liked that these attacks can interact with each other instead of feeling completely separate. When both players coordinate their attacks properly, they can create stronger combined attacks, which gives teamwork a much bigger role than I expected from such a small game. The boss fights are easily the main attraction for me. I have to deal with large attacks while moving around platforms and using shields to stay alive. The limited time also creates some pressure because I cannot simply play defensively forever. I enjoyed the balance between attacking when I have an opening and concentrating on survival when the boss starts using its more dangerous abilities.
