About Omnigon

Omnigon is a humourous adventure, where you have the power to shapeshift the objects around you.

You shall infiltrate and ingress into the deepest depths of an enemy facility to steal their precious secrets and mighty hats, avoiding or punching to death the adversaries who stand in your way.

Hats are findable, which will grant cool and new abilities. Forming a tower of hats can allow you to reap the rewards of every ability, but understandably makes it difficult to pass through areas with low ceilings.

Sideways thumb. The single movement ability was fun but the game just felt flat and boring. Took under an hour to finish. C tier.

You know, that's fair. I was promised mildly amused, I certainly was mildly amused. Though honestly, Omnigon has pretty solid design, and enough innovative gameplay, with the hats and the shapeshifting, that it had potential to be a lot more than just mildly amusing. I like that you don't need to kill anything to progress, you can just shapeshift them or otherwise avoid a fight. It got pretty creative, gameplay wise. Sadly it is unpolished, and has quite a few bugs that were never fixed. It's not too bad; There's more positives than negatives. But it got into my nerves somewhat too often, and the controls were also not helping. It's mostly for those in the mood for a more experimental game with some whimsy. It's short, and generally doesn't require you to commit to playing just this. I have heavy mixed feelings, but it can be an enjoyable couple of hours.

A charming 2d metroidvania. Doesn't hold you hand, and some parts are downright confusing. However, I was always laughing when I figured out what was going on (or even if not) and it isn't that hard to progress if you understand the genre. Throwing hats in combat feels clunky in a fun way, and it really clicked on the first boss. 100% recommend.

Fun, funny, and perhaps a bit too short to get much use out of its unique gameplay mechanics. There are plenty of opportunities to use shapeshifting for combat, traversal, and secret hunting, but the hat stacking mechanic isn't particularly important. There are a lot of hats, but most of them are either situational or apparently useless, so it's usually very easy to decide what to equip. I had to think about my hats maybe once in the entire game (I was trying to get into a doorway that only had enough space for a single hat) but that's about it. I like the art and the writing, and the sense of exploration is good. I really just wish there was more, which isn't a bad problem for an indie game like this to have.
