TL;DR: Operation Zeta is a fun, quirky game with a lot of character and solid replay value borrowing aspects of roguelite genre with a variety of minigames. Pros: - Lots of character and love put into the game, I'm a big fan of the Flaxon Five characters in particular - Several types of characters to select from with different gameplay goals and playstyles - Gravity-based movement and combat is super satisfying after getting used to it - Persistent upgrades across multiple playthroughs adds good replay value for the price Cons: - Takes a run or two to really understand the game loop - Keybinds are a little awkward on keyboard - Minor UX issues that could be improved4 found this helpful

At the end of the day, however, it's money well spent for fans of the genre. You are an explorer whose spaceship has been destroyed in a losing battle (the Eponymous Operation Zeta), and you must scramble around the various planets in the sector to collect the pieces of your ship and repair them before the death laser is fired by your enemies, killing you. Since this is a roguelike, you should expect that this is easier said than done. Expect to die frequently until you come to terms with the rules of the world; the game doesn't even attempt to explain anything but the most basic controls. Navigation in your ship can be difficult to really master as the gravitation of planets will definitely affect your ship. The “music” is abysmal, consisting of atonal chiptune bloops and bleeps designed to evoke a sci-fi feel. Thank god you can mute it, because it's one of the most unpleasant noises I've ever heard in my life. The graphics are...acceptable. I'm going to be…2 found this helpful
After playing this game for just over half an hour it's charm is immediately apparent. It took a few minutes before I really understood exactly what it was I was doing, but once I did I found myself trying having a blast just flying around the map. The controls are a little difficult to grasp (considering how crazy the gravity can get) which can lead to things getting really out of control really quickly, but I never felt like that really affected my enjoyment of the game sometimes even made the experience more fun. I'm looking forward to putting more hours into this cute game.1 found this helpful
It's pretty good
This is a fun one! It took me a few minutes to get use to the mechanics and figure out the game objective but once I did, it was pretty addictive. The game loop structure is nice because you want to keep trying one more time plus it's different each time so it's doesn't get repetitive. It also makes it easy to put down and pick back up casually. I like that there's a lot of extras because it's worth continuing just for the sake of unlocking characters and database entries. Music and graphics are cute as well. All around good game! Definitely worth a try!
This is a really interesting little game where you are tasked with finding parts in order to fix your broken ship. With many mini games and puzzles embedded in the game, it's obvious the devs put a lot of thought and love into the game. The artwork is tasteful and the music for the game is a personal favorite. For the price, this little game packs a lot into a small package
