Follow our Curator Group for more reviews
Orbs is an awful game. I give it credit for at least being unique, rather than a generic rip off of another game, but it is truly terrible. It's buggy, confusing and a chore to play. You have a bloated stats system that is poorly explained, along with some weird gameplay. It actually seems like there is a decent amount of depth to the game, but it is packaged in such a bizarre and unintuitive way that you can't make heads or tails of it. Which stats are useful for early in the game? You have no idea because you can't even tell what each stat does. They might give a general description, but you don't know how much effect it actually has. Another issue is the lack of players. This is pitched as an MMO, yet you will most likely be the only person in the world playing. This would be fine in any other genre, as you can just play singleplayer, but an MMO almost requires a player base in order to have content. As it stands, you simply roll around killing AI controlled orbs. There is nothing interesting going on, just endless combat that starts out boring and only gets worse. 1/…

Orbs is a somewhat unusual 3D rendered 2D action brawler with an obtuse bit of depth/progression as you can upgrade your ball. Otherwise the game involves just rolling around, smashing into other balls, and wondering what the heck is going on and what you're supposed to actually do to have fun. One important note is that even though this is an amateur project, it does seem to be sincerely and genuinely made. I couldn't find any flipped assets, plagiarism or any other kind of insincere actions from the developer, but unfortunately genuine intentions alone are not enough to produce a brilliant PC gaming experience. Case in point, while the game works, the overall design is so obtuse, you can't really work out what's going on or what you're supposed to do. That means it's not fun. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features l…

[strike]Currently unplayable. After clicking "Register" in the main menu, it only says "Registration failed." edit: Now registration no longer fails, but I get another error right after the cutscene ends.[/strike] edit(2): I just tried now, and i no longer got error after the cutscene, so I was able to play it. I didn't spend much time actually playing yet, but I'm pleasantly surprised by dev's response
