About OVERWHELM
- OVERWHELM is an action horror-world platformer where enemies power-up and you don’t.
- Horror-world Exploration: Explore the oppressive caverns of the hive, guided only by a sparse map. Enemies can appear from anywhere at any time.
- Bosses Give Enemies Power-Ups: As you defeat each of the five unique bosses, their abilities get distributed to the enemies of the world with escalating difficulty.
- Tactile, Tense Combat: Combat is crunchy and fast. One hit and you die. Three deaths and the run is over. Defeat bosses in different orders to optimize your playthrough.
- Intense Soundtrack & Soundscape: The sparse but powerful soundscape keeps you focused and scared. The soundtrack provides occasional ominous synths to compliment intense boss fights and big moments.

A very tense action platformer centered around ambience and tight gameplay. A very small scale game, but with lots of player freedom in which bosses they decide to tackle in what order, upgrading the world's enemies in different ways. They get to decide what they're willing to deal with. It's tough, but its gameplay formula has a lot of layers to learn. It's visually not horror, but the player's vulnerability creates a certain sense of tension and dread behind every new screen.3 found this helpful
Hands down one of the best, most atmospheric and well made retro games, ever. It's a travesty that OVERWHELM is still largely unknown. I've finished it multiple times and come back to it every couple of years to relive the immersion, tension and incredible music.2 found this helpful
can't play this game. it keeps crashing 30 seconds in every time, no idea why. I meet the specs. tried reaching the dev support email, I've never received a response. devs, fix your game or give me my money back1 found this helpful

Ok so imagine a megaman game if it was A) very nearly a horror game B) custom built to challenge you while under the most intense anxeity a game can instill in you. I love it so much
