GAME DESIGN: 4 / 5 - pretty good game core, like any Magic-type game; the couple new features (commanders usable as units) are not unnecessarily complex but add a nice twist ACESSIBILITY: 3 / 5 - pretty decent UI though the menu organization is confusing; deckbuilding is atrocious PRESENTATION: 1 / 5 - most of the main characters look intentionally ugly in some kind of misguided attempt to be “edgy” — the flavor makes the game unplayable CONTENT: 3 / 5 - seems an early product and there are season tracks and whatnot; nothing overwhelming but seems like it could end up growing into something worthwhile TECHNICAL QUALITY: 4 / 5 - seems bug-free for the most part; some of the animation and such is clunky, as the horrible art bleeds into this VALUE: 1 / 5 - “buy me” is thrown into your face, and expensively, before you know what you’re doing; the early heroes are so ugly you won’t want them; apparently there are NFTs in the game too as if everything else wasn’t bad enough OVERALL: 2.67 / 5 -- You can tell that this started out as an NFT game, even if they've intentionally moved away from that model. This is coming from someone who has played essentially every single DCG / card game out there past ~30+ years, since 4th edition of MTG. I've netted tens of thousands of hours in various card games. +Aesthetics / style are really neat +Card art is fantastic +Production values show in some things, e.g. rendered-intro +Player choice +Faction amounts -Games are nothing but complete snowballing - either way, there really aren't matches that feel fair. It doesn't matter if you are giving or taking it, it just feels lame. -UX/UI is infernally bad in the deckbuilder -UX/UI is pretty bad in the game too; having 6+ units require you to drag the play area around instead of zooming out / scaling = Disappointed. I was impressed initially by the style and coherence, but the actual snowballing nature of the game is pure facepalmagio. I naturally wouldn't recommend such game to anyone.

Game glitching too much and bugging. random disconnect and desyncs. when you come back your units are bugged and cant attack. art is cool but not way to get cards slowly over time. not reccomended. also population is too low for matchmaking to work properly

Parallel feels like a nice mix of Hearthstone and Mythgard. I do wish there were more ways to actively interact with your opponent during their turn like in MTG, but the game itself is very well designed. It's streamlined and feels faster than most other TCGs, which makes it easy to play several games in one sitting. I also like how your deck's identity (color/faction) is determined by your Paragon, and that the Paragon itself can be played as a card. If you've played Magic: The Gathering, it feels a bit like a mix of EDH and the Companion mechanic from the Ikoria era. I'm still playing completely F2P and having a lot of fun, although I feel like I'll probably end up spending some money on the game soon. I'd recommend giving Parallel a try, not only if you're new to TCGs, but also if you're already an experienced card game player. One thing I'd love to see in the future is multi-faction Paragons. Obviously, balancing them at first would probably be difficult, but I think they could open up a lot of interesting deckbuilding possibilities.
