Path Maker

Path Maker is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This one is a free browser game that you can play on Itch, but the developer seems to have a real problem with Steam gamers and are trying to scam them into paying money for a free game. Not acceptable. This trash shovelware is a basic platformer with a simple, shallow, pointless premise... you can place blocks on the screen to help you finish each level. Some blocks do special stuff. That's it. What did you expect from a free browser game? From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. It has a decent concept and its fun in its way. Sadly its missing a lot. Some features are underbaked and sadly it doesnt have enough levels. But its fine while it lasted. You can give it a try if you want to, the playtime definitely is within the 2 hrs period, so if you didnt like it, you can always refund it. Im on a quest of at least trying every game in my library, of which I got plenty from all kinds of cheap mass-bundles, others I bought directly, yet others from sites like nivqgames. This is a straightforward puzzle game that offers a decent challenge depending on your imagination and dexterity. While I’m not usually into this type of puzzle game, it provided some solid, cheap entertainment. The developer isn’t greedy—the game is priced very fairly, especially on sale. For what little I paid, I was pleasantly surprised!
