About Ping Pong Space - Retro Tennis

Ping Pong Space is a modern incarnation of the classic arcade Pong game, set in space.

Travel through the expanse of endless space, playing retro tennis with a computer and overcome the many different obstacles that you encounter along the way. The gameplay is essentially a reimagining of air hockey and classic Atari's Pong with new additional elements. The game has new rules; the blocks and mechanisms in the arenas can both help you win and lead you to defeat, and the drop-down bonuses both please and disappoint, it all depends on your dexterity and skills. Complete every level alone or play with your friend in two-player mode. Immerse yourself in a fascinating journey through the cosmic world.
Are you ready to fight artificial intelligence and win?

The game features:

  • An atmospheric space setting
  • A unique blend of table tennis and breakout games
  • 1 or 2 player modes
  • Two difficulty modes to suit your style of play
  • 60 challenging levels, 9 colorful arenas
  • Difficult, fast-paced gameplay in hard mode
  • Special bonuses including the small ball, speedball, and lasers
  • Steam achievements (medals and cup) and leaderboards
  • Controller support (Keyboard still required for text input)
  • Enjoy the old school sports game with improved graphics

Don't let the invaders take over the world! Accept the challenge to defeat the AI robot and become the retro tennis champion of the galaxy.

"You get what you pay for", yeah, that's pretty much the way to sum up the experience with this game. That said, don't expect a masterpiece, it's a basic game that you can use to kill some time whenever you feel like it. This title doesn't really have a "story mode" available or something, but there's a campaign of 60 levels that you can get to beat, in order to complete it. The more you advance, the more complex the levels get, with obstacles that you need to avoid, or that you can also try to use it in order to fool the AI. The graphics are pretty much basic, but that's not really a problem, as you can get to see what's going on around without any struggle. The sound effects are ok, as for the music, there's only one available and I've turned off after the very first minutes, which was actually another frustrating discovery, because whenever you hit the "ESC" key during a run, you simply leave the game and lose all your progress (points). At least the game saves at the last level you were playing, just so you don't have to start all over from scratch again. Be careful not to hit the "new game" option by accident on the main menu, though, that can be really frustrating. Conside…

I played for 10 minutes very stoned. It has a (one) good retro sountrack. You can play this waiting for Windjammers 2.

It's not bad for what it is but it is just ping pong in space so it's not much.

Two French baguettes battle it out in a Retro Ping Pong match superimposed upon a series of low resolution 'space' background files. Does exactly what it says on the tin, so if you are in the market for a fun retro style ping pong game, then look no further. The 2 player mode is a bit lacking however. No option to have a 'best off 5 matches' and/or select which rounds u want the matches to play out on or anything like that. Can't even enter the player names or anything like that....but at least the 2p mode is there. Also, can't imagine it would really be a huge effort for the devs to increase the resolution of the textures and background images beyond the 360p mark....can be sorted out reasonably well with driver level Super Sampling etc....but c'mon...why not make it as smooth as possible, especially when doing so would require so little effort. But it's good. It's fun for 10-20 minutes of casual pissing around.
