Planet Scanner

Wow, it's good. I mean that. Sure, it's a slow burn; and the way the story is presented means that to get the most of it you really have to immerse yourself in it. That also dictates how the horror elements are delivered - if you're here just for that, then be advised: most of the game is indeed planet scanning and managing your meager finances. That's part of what makes this game what it is. [i]Delicious.[/i] Now, maybe it's just me, but I found certain parallels between the events of the game and, well, reality. I don't know if that was intentional, but it made the horror hit that much harder. I'll probably be thinking about it for quite some time. Another thing: there is some AI-generated art in the game. But even though I am very strongly opposed to everything AI these days, in this particular case it's... fine, actually. It fits its purpose rather well. Don't hate the game for it, pretty much everything is handcrafted except that particular part. You'll see. Oh, and 22% of players beat the game. That's a pretty good number, although for a game this short, perhaps it should be higher. The length of my playthrough was 6 hours because I decided to play on slow - normal speed…

I love this game and wish it gets more attention. You start off hating your soul-sucking corporate job, but then you end up having something far worse to deal with.

Incredible. I had no idea what to expect, but it turned out so good. The sound design and eerie chiptunes are cool. The gameplay loop is done very well. The atmosphere is simply brilliant with all the tiny details and bits of lore you get exposed to. I don't remember a game that gave me goosebumps as this one. Great idea, well executed. Bravo!

This game tries to be one of those Iron Lung style scary busywork games and I do quite like that as of yet unnamed genre, but this isn't the best execution on the premise. The difficulty is strangely frontloaded. I lost my first run due to buying the wrong upgrades, but when you get the upgrades that give you more money, the gameplay quickly stops mattering. I enjoyed looking for the perfect planet to get me the most money, but after a few rounds, there was no way I couldn't make the requirements. The spooks are also too drawn out, with the game overstaying its welcome. I thought it would end way earlier than it did. All in all, I wouldn't recommend it.
