About PlayFortress
PlayFortress is a castle building game where the player controls characters such as the Lord, Master Mason and Engineer using them to construct elaborate castle fortifications and settlements whilst managing their economy.
The inspiration for the game was to attempt something new with the castle building genre, to create a game focuses upon how castles were constructed during the medieval era.
The following features are currently implemented in the Early Access version:
Castle Editing (Master Mason Mode)Walls Customise castle pieces Paint mode for changing castle styles (type of stone) Attachments for adding windows, doors, arrow loops, shields and banners Buildings
All castle geometry pieces, walls and buildings can be placed on uneven ground ensuring castles can be built upon slopes and mounds (castle mottes).
More features will be added later, some of these features are currently work in progress and can be seen at the end of the PlayFortress trailer video including:
More information will be posted on our Steam store page forums and website.

It has been a year. There have been no updates, no communication from the developer, no indication this is ever going to be developed into anything at all. UPDATE: It has now been TWO years. There have still been no updates, no communication from the developer, no indication this is ever going to be developed into anything at all.36 found this helpful
Nice idea, a bit like a better version of Stronhold with reasonable graphics requirements. But I think the game needs a ♥♥♥♥ ton of development. You can't zoom in really close, many of the tools are bugged such as placing decoration on buildigns parallelly will always end up in a total mess. And the algorithm that recognizes how far you are going from the ground is REALLY bugged. Buildings somehow float above the grass or create weird sort of platforms around them, and you can not place a door in a keep on ground-level due to this thing. It makes a bit of fun, but I did ask for a refund because 20€ is way too much for this.8 found this helpful
Game must be played in 1080, if played in 4k it will not fill the screen rotation doesnt line up properly little content $20 dollars is too much to start asking right now, either wait to open to EA or lower price7 found this helpful
This is an overall great game with many possibilities in the present and the future. Although, I would suggest holding off on buying the game so soon as it still needs to be updated so more features are added. But, for being one of the only games that allows historically accurate castle building, it is by far the best.2 found this helpful
abandonware, extremely reachable upper limit on how many buildings can be placed
I'd say this was a work in progress with a lot of potential . Depending on what the developers do next could swing this either way . They were very good at getting back to me when I had an issue . Its a bit expensive at the moment for whats there , but it already has a lot more than when I first got it . You wont build a massive complex with it at the moment and not sure what you will be able to do with it once you can . Not sorry I got it but your call .
