About Polterheist

✦ AI summary

You're a skeptical burglar breaking into a rural Kansas house rumored to be haunted, tasked with collecting specific items from your list before escaping with the loot. What sets this apart is the supernatural twist—paranormal activity genuinely haunts the location, forcing you to question your disbelief as you confront real otherworldly threats during the heist.

You are a burglar, and you often rob houses at night when the owners are out. You usually pick an object somewhere in the remote parts where there are no eyewitnesses or any other things that could stop you. Today, you are going to rob a house not far from a little town in Kansas. It belongs to a family that has moved in quite recently. You have been to that house before so you know there are lots of valuable stuff there, and you have a list of what is to be stolen. You have to get to other people’s territory and then find and put into your van every item from your list. However, it’s not going to be that easy because, as some rumors say, there have been some sorts of paranormal activities observed in the house. People were saying something about poltergeist. But you don’t believe in all that stuff, and the only thing you want is to rob that house as soon as possible.

Polterheist, developed and published by BisquitPlay, is a small-scale indie title that merges stealth gameplay with light paranormal horror elements. The game casts you as a lone burglar tasked with breaking into a seemingly abandoned house in rural Kansas. Your mission is to gather a list of valuables and get out without being caught. But this is no ordinary heist—the house you're robbing is allegedly haunted, and as the night drags on, you begin to realize you may not be alone. This intriguing blend of genres—a thief simulator with supernatural undertones—sets the stage for what could have been a unique and memorable indie horror experience. From the outset, the premise offers plenty of promise. The idea of sneaking around a dark, unfamiliar home, rifling through drawers and cabinets while eerie noises echo from unseen rooms, has strong atmospheric potential. There’s something inherently unnerving about the vulnerability of a character who’s not a fighter or an investigator, but simply a criminal trying to do a job. The tension comes from the fear of being caught—whether by human presence or something more ghostly. The slow, deliberate pace of movement, the creaking of floorboar…

The graphics look good but the game is ultimately difficult to the point that it is almost impossible to beat but if you want a challenge give it a try https://youtu.be/AEoRJpNxaAg?si=wMtGAsYlz6mukv45

I HATE THIS. This game is an insult to me, my family, my bloodline and, my ancestors before me not in front of me. whoever gifted this to me deserves some special place in the ocean.

This game is good and the negative reviews are overcritical about this game. indie horror games are not backed by companies with whole teams. these are, for the most part, passion projects made by a small group of people or even a solo dev. although i beat the game in an hour, and games should be free if you complete them in under an hour, this game was a short, yet fun experience. the quick time event keeps you on high alert and a different type of horror is in play here. the fear of restarting. it was obvious from the previews and the steam game description that there wasnt anything huge to grasp on to. this game doesnt need to be deep at all to be enjoyable. you arent meant to play this and then play it again. indie horror games is one of my favorite categories, because im supprorting a small dev(s) and enjoying finding games that are unique in their own way. i've played really bad indie horror games before. this is not one of them. dont expect much, and you'll be satisfied
