I did not play the original, but I did look at some video and a lot of the puzzles and the mechanics look similar. This one seems to be underwater with a flooding mechanic added, and it's overall shorter with only 40 puzzles. It's also significant cheaper. For me this was a good thing, I will expound on that later. The story seems to set a significant amount of time after the first game and there's not much crossover, so there's not really any need to play the first to then move on with this game. The story from the first game is mentioned, so if you want to play in order and want absolutely no spoilers, then feel free do play the first one before this. Can't progress past Chapter 2, level 11. After the cut scene, any death results in the character walking in place unable to move. Prior to a death, manually restarting results in a black screen, gotta Alt+F4. Gave it several tries but the issue always triggered.7 found this helpful

It leans more towards a get the exact timing right or restart game than a puzzle game. Uninteresting gameplay, characters, and overall presentation. Why would I want to read a 9 paragraph essay to learn about the mechanics of the enemies?1 found this helpful
Professor Lupo: Ocean could be DLC for the previous Professor Lupo game. The game has some new creatures, but I felt it didn't have the variety of the first game. Most of the levels have a water component as can be expected. Overall both Professor Lupo games are worth playing for fans of puzzle and timing games.1 found this helpful
Another solid dose of Lupo. Solidly expands on its mechanics, but it does feel like the budget started to run out in the final few levels
