Quantum Resonance

I would say this game is a slow burn horror game since it has you do tasks in one big loop quite a bit for the beginning part and it does get repetitive. The final / end part of the game is where all the action is in this game as you have to avoid multiple entities as part of your escape and I did like that one of the entities stood in the doorway while another patrolled the room looking for you. The game is well designed as well but it does feel very barren in terms of life as after the one scientist leaves you are by yourself in this big area and it would of been nice to have other staff walking around or doing something similar to the first Half Life game. This isn't a bad indie game but like I mentioned before it is pretty slow until the end part of the game and for the price its alright https://youtu.be/kyccqBA5r2c

EXCELLENT PACING. BUY IT.

Visuals are great at combining PSX and half-life vibes and sounds are also quite good. Overall this game is better then most of psx slop and would recommend to play it just for aesthetics alone. However there's a lot of issues with it as a horror game and with its gameplay and below is heavy spoilers with constructive critique for the developer: [spoiler] 1. Game is too tedious in the beginning. First run through every room just to read instructions shoukd have been completely removed. 2. Game is very restrictive with its interactions, which is more or less fine for its legnth but it just doesn't feel good that I can't open some rooms before game decides that I need to or that I can't even go in some directions (during escape sequence) 3. Game would benefit greatly from less scripted and more roaming AI and it even could have more routine maintenance or stuff during escape sequence if it would be more sandboxy and non-linear. I greatly recommend playing Voice of the Void (as reference for routine work) and It Steals/Lethal Company (as reference for AI) for some inspiration in that regard. 4. I actually had a lot of fun with it. It's a very suspenseful game. And while it doesn't have a lot of replay value, I would still recommend it, and I would say that it deserved much more popularity. It's kinda sad (and this is an advice to the developer) that this game wasn't advertised good enough, otherwise it could had been more successful and gotten a lot more reviews.

I'm a little torn on giving this a positive or negative review. Overall, I actually enjoyed the game quite a bit. However, there are definitely areas of improvement that can make the game even better. Let's start with the Strengths: [list] [*] The atmosphere and ambiance is fantastic. I enjoyed exploring the facility, checking out the different regions, and the visual aesthetic presented. The low-poly, Half-Life inspire art style and presentation is a treat and a welcomed love letter to the title.
