Rail Recon

"Rail Recon" is a student project from the Breda University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. This year the students were tasked with making a really mediocre twin stick shooter with a twist... you're on train tracks. Yep, that's it. I can just imagine the first day learning to become a game developer when the lecturer says, "In order to be a successful game developer, you must make a game with train tracks". I do hope the students got their money back. This features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and it's clear the developers behind this didn't understand that. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Игра Rail Recon оказалась неожиданно увлекательной головоломкой. Простая на первый взгляд концепция – прокладывать железнодорожные пути, чтобы доставить груз – быстро перерастает в сложные и требующие стратегического мышления задачи. Разные типы вагонов, ограниченные ресурсы и постоянно растущая сложность уровней не дают заскучать. Графика, конечно, не хватает звезд с неба, но выполнена в приятном минималистичном стиле, который не отвлекает от игрового процесса. Музыкальное сопровождение ненавязчивое и хорошо дополняет атмосферу игры. Особенно порадовала система подсказок, которая не дает прямого решения, а скорее направляет в нужном направлении, позволяя самостоятельно докопаться до истины. Единственный минус – иногда управление может показаться немного неудобным, особенно на мобильных устройствах, но к этому быстро привыкаешь. В целом, Rail Recon - это отличный выбор для любителей головоломок, требующих логики и пространственного мышления. Игра затягивает надолго и оставляет положительные впечатления. Рекомендую!
