No, no, no. This won't do at all. Ramiwo's trailer and blurb made it enticing to me. I have played a lot of these kinds of games and Ramiwo just isn't that trippy, artsy or even good. ---------- [h1] PROS [/h1] + a lot of effort has gone into the sound. Each zone has a unique music and sound effects that go with it. + ....... uhh........ok this is awkward.....sorry. That's all I got. ________ [h1] CONS [/h1] - zero options. Esc exits the game. - oh look, a telephone pole.....uninspired areas. For a game that is going to put its art front and centre, there was nothing really different or interesting about each zone. Sure, I liked the Inception style folded over roads in some of the places but that was it. And quite frankly a lot of the things just look like assets from the Cryengine bundle that Humble sold last year. Cryengine has the ability to look super sweet and this game squanders that. - movement. So I guess at worst its a trippy game that I can wander around and take some pretty sick screenshots? Uhhh, no. Excellent art direction, but ultimately too abstract as a game. One thing that really bothered me is that I couldn't properly explore the different environments. The map change triggers always pull you out way too soon. If that's intentional, as to simulate a dream-like stitching between different sequences.. well, it sounds cool on paper, but quite frustrating when playing. The only reason why I'm recommending this is because it's so different. I would love to see another take on this idea, except more friendly towards the player with regards to exploration. Check out Paratopic, Promesa or Thirty Flights of Loving for a better idea of what I mean.

RAMIWO is not your average game. It has no traditional gameplay, no quests, no puzzles. And it's not very long either. It is about experiencing .. small, sometimes intense and surreal scenes. Some are disturbing, others are quiet and relaxing. And that is it. It's different yes, but in a very positive way.

Visit multiple places, ranging from the ordinary to the dream-like. That's it. There's not much game to it, really, but I enjoyed my time with it immensely. To some this would probably mean it's not for them, but I treated it like I'm out on a hike, photographing things. Made over 140 screenshots before I stopped playing and saw all the places, so I'd say I got my money's worth. Also really liked the atmosphere. The graphic style feels like you're looking at photogrammetry mixed with the low-polygon look of 3d Google Maps, which I really dug, and it also added to the dream-like atmosphere. It also probably helped that I ran the game at 1024x768 scaled up to a height of 1080 pixels (with added supersampling x2 through the console). There is no settings menu or anything like that. Starting the game puts you directly into the game world and pressing ESC quits the game. It also doesn't seem to support resolutions above Full HD, but I know my way around console commands, so I wasn't too put off by it. I do think having at least a settings menu to tinker with the resolution would give the game a much better first experience, but playing through the game like I did or rather had to,…
