About Red Planet Rampage

Red Planet Rampage is a dieselpunk western-themed arena shooter where robots face off on Mars with wacky modular guns. Win gun parts in auctions and assemble a unique combination among hundreds of possible weapons!

The game is developed by volunteers at Hackerspace NTNU and is free and open source!

Lore

The robots responsible for terraforming Mars have donned cowboy hats and started wreaking havoc with staged shootouts and competitions where they auction off rudimentary weapon parts assembled from scrap. Terraforming Inc. is still investigating the cause of this disturbance, but rumors point to a fateful upload of a western film.

Features

 • Modular weapons with wildly different parts; over 500 different combinations
 • Auctions where players bid on these weapon parts
 • Splitscreen and online multiplayer
 • Fast-paced movement with rewarding tech

Weapons

 • Reload by playing a rhythm minigame or shaking a soda can
 • Shoot bouncing cowboy hats
 • Mount a frying pan at the end of your gun as a makeshift shield
 • Slay your enemies in one hit with a rubber barrel that wiggles uncontrollably
 • and more!

this game is a hidden gem, I played this with my friend for about an hour and a half and it was very fun. there are so many combinations that I still haven't found yet, but those I found are crazy. But I have noticed that there's a lot of graphical options but they seem to change almost nothing to me, and It made the game a little bit slower cause I can't put it into potato-like computer graphics. besides that, TRY IT! It is free, and fun to play with your friends. Obs: make the AI bots more strong, they're extremely dumb. lol.
Note: Dead PvP game This game contains no meaningful single player content. There's no viably populated servers/active player population. This game cannot be played as intended.
"Red Planet Rampage" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from Hackerspace NTNU in Scandinavia. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" games, we must still question what value they have for gamers. This isn't a fully fleshed out game. It's the result of an academic exercise and has much more limited value than a professionally developed game. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments. It helps their marketing and makes students feel good, but it puts the business before the needs of gamers. The students made a rather pointless and dead-on-arrival "westernpunk" low poly arena shooter, a barely detectable drop in the ocean of "PvP exclusive" games in a massively oversaturated market. Offering nothing new or interesting, it died immediately. The students haven't touched this for 3 months, it's likely they've already walked away from it, leaving abandoned Early Acce…

Best game to play with friends just introduce more broad ONLINE MODE, I know it takes much more money for servers and all but try it will change the game!

Cowboy robots, DDR reloading, funny weapon names. whats not to love. there's a bit of jankiness, but that honestly adds a bit to the charm of the game. Works perfectly fine on steamdeck despite the unsupported rating, even seems to support the touchpads just fine.
