I had high hopes for this one, but unfortunately, I can't recommend this game. The controls are horrible, and there's not enough fishing!! Everything is so janky! It won't let me remap the buttons, let alone close the game! This game is mostly a VN with very little fishing mechanics inserted between cutscenes. The story isn't particularly interesting either. It's such a shame because I wanted to give Natusme a chance.8 found this helpful

This fishing game is not good. But I'll give a thumbs up since I've played the game until got all achievements. I played previous Reel Fishing titles, from PS1, PS2, but I can't find the same feeling of playing those predecessors in this game. 1. This game lacks variation in fishing methods. Only reel fishing is available. I know the title of the game is reel fishing, but the PS1 Reel Fishing, have 3 fishing methods. Using bobber, using reel, and fly fishing. 2. This game feels rushed. Because of timer in the top corner, I feel not relaxed when fishing. Everything is about optimizing my fishing technique, so I can haul as much as many fish at the end of the day. That's not fun at all. I hope Natsume fix this in the next series. 3. But actually, I loved the VN, Skilltree, Crafting, and Upgrading element. Please keep this for next game.4 found this helpful
This game is absolutely broken, so I don't feel bad in saying that you can channel your inner crack head and spam the rod around like you're performing fish-jitsu and instantly reel up fish. I don't feel bad for revealing this because the game's controls are ass and doesn't even read my controllers. honestly f<<k this game but the crack head fishing moments are f<<king kino. Don't buy this game if you can sail the high seas. The devs don't care enough to fix it so you shouldn't care to pay for it.3 found this helpful
Looks like it could fun, and maybe it is on the Switch with its originally intended motion controls, but the controls on PC suck. You can cast with the controller (not the way the 'tutorial' tells you to), but good luck figuring out which button on the controller, if any, sets the hook. I never got past the first 'tutorial' fish, so I can't even tell if I managed to set the hook. Nothing happens when you press the button the worthless tutorial tells you to use. Did one of the buttons I mashed actually work? No idea. The fish just keep getting away. Is that because the hook was never properly set? Or is reeling one in another controls mystery? Some inputs work with the controller, others require switching to the keyboard, and almost nothing matches the control map in the settings. It is a confusing mess. You can't even exit the game without hitting Alt F4. The dev promised a patch years ago, but nothing ever came of it. Feels like zero effort went into the port. The game looks fun but not fun enough to waste time trying to fix what should have worked out of the box.2 found this helpful
The controls on PC are not explained and the tutorial explains controls for a controller... Tried to play with an Xbox One controller and was unsupported. Tried on keyboard and couldn't tell if I was even doing anything. Seems like an interesting game, but doesn't seem good for PC. It's been out here for over five years so I don't expect any updates. Shame because the premise seems fun! Best to get this one on console.1 found this helpful
