About Refate: Echoes of Desire

The first immersive interactive movie game with a Yakuza theme.

As the first-person perspective scans the neon lights of a foreign city, your story begins with a "brutal starting blow".                                                                                                    ——ReFATE:Echoes of DesireYou open your eyes to an unfamiliar street scene, your pockets emptier than your mind—it's like someone hit the "delete" button on your memories. Survival is your only immediate KPI, but trouble always arrives faster than opportunities:Shadows flicker in the dim light, gang members chase you with a urgency that outpaces your heartbeat. Don't panic. Staying alive is the first key to unlocking "who I am".Starting penniless and amnesiac on the streets of Tokyo, you will journey step by step to the city's pinnacle. Money, beauties, and power will all become byproducts of your search for the truth.

\

Major Premiere! Complete romance routes for 8 female protagonists!

\

\

Filmed with real Tokyo landmarks, includes "you-know-what" style easter egg scenes, featuring detailed performances by local popular actresses and seasoned actors. This first-person immersive Yakuza survival challenge, starting from the Tokyo streets, is officially beginning. You're not watching a story; you're telling your own.

\

Action QTEs that blend seamlessly with the live-action footage, turning a "racing heartbeat" into a playable rhythm. A tap of your finger might just switch you from a "dead-end scenario" to an "awesome storyline". Every interaction is a deep connection with the story.

\

The game includes over 7 hours of live-action footage and 8 beautiful heroines with different charms and personalities. Whether it's length or... rewards, we offer generous volume.

The noble and cold Yakuza boss lady

The gentle and caring innocent international student

The quirky and mischievous little devil rich heiress

The lonely divorced teacher with a child

The vibrant and righteous policewoman

The dangerous,well-proportioned female ninja

The enchanting top-tier gravure model

The sexy and passionate restaurant owner

\

One moment you're lingering in tender ambiguity, the next you're gasping, "Who stabbed me in the back?!"

\

A professional production team delivers full cinematic quality. The suspenseful puzzle-solving will keep you focused, while the tense action sequences ensure the story's pace is perfectly balanced.

\

Dozens of branches lead to N types of lives. Among the dozen or so endings lie interconnected easter eggs. The more memory fragments you collect, the more you can uncover the hidden plot behind the main story—even the endings themselves interact and intertwine.

\

During investigation phases, details that can turn the tide are hidden within the scenes—graffiti on a street corner, a special mark in a drawer, a seemingly ordinary diary... any could be the code to break the case.

\

On the path to discovering your history, memory fragments are like puzzles scattered throughout the plot. As you piece them together, you encounter the "so-this-is-how-crazy-I-was" version of yourself. Just dive in and make your choices. Choose right, and you win big in Tokyo. Choose wrong? Just hit restart—after all, a good story is never afraid of a few tries. Every restart is a new highlight moment.

- Do not recommend this FMV - such a waste of potential in my opinion. The concept and idea are interesting, but the actual realization is full of : BUNCH of cringe moments, disappointing changes of locations and actions, bad 1-st person directing sometimes; too cartoonish / wooden characters. Someone might call it the “Style”, but I was expecting better basics and deeper fundamentals in the writing. After all, this is supposed to be a “yakuza theme” game, but there is only few (cringe) "fun-service" moments, that actually remind you of it… - If you're interested in a criminal-yakuza story, Refate: Echoes of Desire will stab you right in the mind. - If you're looking for a good Japanese "romance theme", the game doesn't offer anything new. The actresses aren't the best either, but maybe this is not their fault.

QTE here, QTE there, QTE everywhere. I just don't get why developers feel the need to cram this garbage into everything they make. Intentionally annoying paying customers doesn't seen like a smart move.

While the characters are not quite as enchanting as others I have seen in games of this genre (e.g., Five Hearts Under One Roof series), I really enjoyed the elevated stakes and sometimes darker storylines of this narrative. The deeper narrative helped to make the connections with the various characters more impactful and had some unexpected twists that hit harder than anticipated. As far as my favorite character, it has to be is Bai Meng!

From characters to program stability to acting, everything is above average. Some actresses are especially cute/pretty.

I heard this game was good but I wasn't prepared for how much I would enjoy it. Refate excels in storytelling and content. It successfully combines a compelling yakuza action story with a dating sim, to make a fun game to play through, and plenty of endings and additional scenes to experience that will have you coming back for more. The production and acting by the women are excellent. You can tell the developers and everyone involved in the creative process were passionate about making the best game possible. Aside from the usual gameplay associated with these FMV dating sims they added a couple of QTE systems to make the action scenes and some minigames to give the player a bit more immersion, which I greatly appreciate. Other games in the genre may use QTEs but in a more half hearted way, Refate shows how it should be done. I will say most of the cast have a decent storyline and play a role in the overall story, while others are really only there for sex appeal, which is fine in that there's something for everyone to enjoy if that's what you're looking for. I really hope this development team come back with a sequel or a new game with this level of quality. If you …
