About Rockstar Life

Wanna be a Rockstar but missing the skills or the time? No worries, I got you!

Rockstar Life is a simple and fast, casual life simulation game with hand drawn graphics, in which you, through random events, deal with everyday decisions and dramas in a Rockstar's life. Everything from which drugs to use, to dealing with groupies and deciding the details of your upcoming tour; in this game you have to deal with every aspect of the Rockstar life!

This game is heavily inspired by old classics like Rockstar and Rockstar Ate My Hamster!

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

Start as a wannabe Rockstar in a basement flat and work your way up to becoming the most successful Rockstar.
You don't get to decide your band members, but still you have to deal with problems caused by them. You don't get to choose the genre of Rock Music you want to perform, but you still have to deal with fans who don't think the sponsor you got fit your style.
Yes, life is unfair, but the road to becoming a Rockstar is even more unfair and random.

GO ON TOURS

Decide where, which concert halls, how long and go on a tour. Earn popularity and money depending on
the tour setup.
Maybe some bigger band (for now) will offer you a support tour with them so you can become more popular, faster. Let's just hope that the tour doesn't end abruptly after an unlucky accident...

WRITE SONGS

Write songs and wait for the right moment to record and release them.
You don't like the song you've written? Maybe some other band will, so you can sell it to them.
Did you always want to write a song and give it the name of your dog? Now it’s possible!

RECORD

Choose songs, the studio you are going to record at and how many copies you are going to make.
Deal with the opinions of your record label or your band mates during a recording.
Will you self publish or are you gonna wait for the right record label to make you an offer you can't refuse before getting into the studio to record your magic?
Release your recording and don't forget to check the TOP 100 list to see if you’ve reached the top.

RANDOM EVENTS

Decide on what to do in random events; the drugs you take, the groupies you diss, another band you respond to or a friend you choose to help, these things will all affect the outcome of your life as a Rockstar.
Maybe taking drugs is not that bad after all, you’re a Rockstar after all, or will the moral values passed on to you from your parents be the compass to stardom? Up to you. (and a bit to the RNG)

MANAGE YOUR HEALTH AND SKILLS

Manage your health and other skills to get the best out of every action you are taking. Practice, check yourself into rehab or go on vacation. After several play throughs you will master the choices presented to you and start writing better songs, have better gigs and maybe reach the peak of your career.

FESTIVALS

Get invited to different festivals depending on your popularity. Earn money but also good popularity if you prepare right.

BACKGROUND&PERKS

Get different perks that would affect your gameplay by answering few questions when starting your career.

✦ AI summary

Players praise the game's entertaining writing, fun rock star simulation mechanics, and challenging learning curve that rewards engagement, with comparisons to classic games like Rock Star Ate My Hamster. However, complaints center on tedious late-game content, an unpolished UI, high costs for basic functions like health restoration, and a lack of clear tutorials that can make the game confusing for newcomers.

''Your dad invites you to an orgy / Your mom invites you to take acid...'' It's actually very hard for me to decide if I would recommend the game, I don't hate it but I don't love it either. If the game hadn't gotten me hooked on heroin I would have been able to write a really good review, probably the best review I've ever written, and I would have finally become a rock star and had a steady stream of groupies until I'd had all the STDs multiple times. While I get the next shot ready, I can only give you the following advice: Try the demo first, only buy the game on sale but only if you have enough money to buy another game right after. I'll flip a coin now, heads for thumbs up, tails for down and here we go...hmm...lucky you bastard. And now leave me the F alone, I want to enjoy my shot and stop writing stuff about stupid games. Edit (04/14/2025) Since I recently started playing Rock God Tycoon, which I immediately liked much more than Rockstar Life, I wanted to return and clarify a few things because, in my opinion, this simulation really needs a lot of fine-tuning. Or I should say, in its current state, the game falls short and is difficult to recommend. Unfortunatel…

VERY hard but fun in the end

Cool game so far. Though I would re-do the health system and maybe make it cheaper to fill your health.

9/10 This is a buggy game worth playing if you enjoy rock star sims. The core gameplay is built around vacationing, writing songs, touring, and publishing records. Which gave me a few hours of intense delight as I made it work for me. The downside is the game is pretty tedious at the highest level. Which is why it forces the game to end. This is a fun sim genre and although other games do things better, this one is really difficult to learn and if you enjoy steep learning curves it's great. Until it isn't and the game ends. This game probably needs more developer work to really shine. But if you're willing to dive in there is fun to be had.

A fun wee game. Clearly takes inspiration from Rock Star Ate My Hamster, which I used to love playing as a kid when things like booze and blow were frightening, faraway thrills and not mundane crutches to prolong a pointless existence. The writing's entertaining and the progress seems fair. Though some other reviewers seem to have a problem with a lack of tutorial it strikes me as you'd have to be ten years old with no concept of the rock music industry outside of Spotify to have a hard time figuring it out. If you don't look after your health in the game you will die by some method or another but hey, that's rock folks. Yes this is an enjoyable game. Thanks to the developer for making it and reminding me I'd have been dreadful being in the band who I inexplicably have always assumed I would call Mouse Rage.

The game is too boring sadly. The UI doesn't look finished/polished too.
