About Rogue Planet

Your civilization's native star has died, and you must now travel the cosmos in search of fuel for your colossal, planet-sized ship.

Rogue Planet is about speed, precision, and smooth motion. Use your momentum paired with the force of gravity to propel yourself from star to star, draining their power and fueling your ship as you go.

This arcade style game features a simple point and click control scheme, giving you 360 degrees of freedom. Circle around stars to collect energy, which keeps your ship alive and increases your score, but don't get too close or the star's heat will burn through your hull. Orbiting planets with civilizations will act as floating obstacles and barrage you with rockets, but you can use your mobility to avoid them.

There are two ways to play: classic mode and custom mode. In classic mode, travel from stage to stage though a portal, with each stage increasing the number of randomly generated stars and planets, making it more difficult to progress. Custom mode allows you to edit the generation parameters to find the experience and difficulty that best suits you.

Rogue Planet is a 2D retro/low fi physics puzzle game using a mechanism similar to SpaceWar! from 1962 to propel a spaceship around various planets. Your engine power is limited so you must recharge it with the planets and use their gravity to slingshot around to the right trajectory to hit the next one. That's the game. While this isn't an asset or template flip, the gameplay is simple and any appeal it might have is outweighed by the very low quality implementation. It feels like it might have done better as a mobile app. It was made using the godawful Godot game engine/construction kit. Using low quality construction kits results in low quality games, and there's no exception here. Resolution and controls are locked and can't be changed, and the game features very low quality art assets. All of this puts the game below minimum standards for a modern PC game.

This game is very fun and addicting. The recent graphics update clearly shows the developer cares about the game as well. Looks really good.
