Rooster

Good things first: the game is incredibly beautiful and it keeps giving you different little tasks, trying to keep things interesting. The music is nice, albeit a bit repetitive at times, and the characters are charming (I do adore the way the tiger is drawn). You also get to learn some things about Chinese culture, which is nice. However, and I think this is my one big issue with the game, the story is far too flat for justifying this existing as a story only game (in the vein of What remains of Edith Finch), whereas the gameplay is too clunky and without challenge to make this a more traditional beat-this-level kind of game. If you want to spend about three hours looking at pretty pictures, then sure, buy this game. Play it in one sitting because it doesn't give you an option to continue so much as it lets you choose whatever level you want to continue from. If you expect more then maybe this isn't for you. (Also what is it with these fart jokes?)

Ancient China-style graphics, a story centered around a zodiac sign trying to repent, and all of that with objects searching ? Really neat ! It's a cosy chinese game who ends a little too soon, but the story is really interesting and the different mini-games helps to adjust the difficulty. It was a good discovery, would recommend it.

This is a nice little playable story. The art work/animation is wonderful! It's warm and authentic feeling. The animals all looked so unique and cozy. The story has some great messaging on life, family and even death. And there is lots of learning about Chinese culture and pratices. I think this would be a wonderful game for kids and youth alike. Maybe something available for classrooms. And even myself as an adult, it was a chill, relaxing game where I got to learn. I had a few good laughs while the Ox was farting and ruining my puzzle until l got with the flow.

Been looking forward to Rooster since the 2024 Wholesome Direct and I Absolutely adore this game, its so beautifully and lovingly crafted. It's gameplay is pretty simple, most of it is controlled by mouse and some section are harder/longer than others, but each of them are unique in their own right. The story is similarly simple but also very sweet, i like all of the characters personality. There are some moments where it feels a bit janky, but that hasnt really hindered me. The biggest thing for me is the visuals, it is SUCH a treat!! Absolute eye candy, the artist did such a great job with the design of the whole game. It really feels like a moving art book.

This is a really sweet game. It's very short and quite simple but the artwork and story are beautiful. So quick breakdown without spoiling the game. You play as Rooster (of the Chinese Zodiac origin) and you are sent back in time to Ancient China to help with the long life of Little Dove and his family. Each level is basically a life stage/"problem" to solve for Little Dove and you assist a different Zodiac animal for each as well. There are tutorials for each level but you probably don't need them after the first level, if at all. It's all basically point and click and very easy to figure out. Pros: -Beautiful art style -Soundtrack is lovely -Interesting info about each object and it's importance in Chinese culture -You can go back to each level/chapter from the menu if you wish to go back for an achievement or take a break and come back -Good game to play while watching a movie or multitasking Cons: -It's incredibly simple. Would be perfect for an elementary school lesson on Chinese culture but it is way too simple for an adult. -There are a lot of really weird fart jokes?
