About Roten

About This GameThe world didn’t end in a single moment.
No clear beginning or end.It faded — quietly, slowly — leaving behind places filled with silence, traces, and unanswered questions.

ROTEN is an open-world zombie multiplayer, PvP PvE survival experience focused on atmosphere, exploration, and environmental storytelling. The world is open, hostile, and indifferent to your presence. You are free to move through it at your own pace, choosing where to go, what to explore, and what to leave behind.Abandoned houses, isolated roads, forgotten facilities, and remote points of interest remain scattered across the landscape. Some tell their stories openly. Others reveal nothing unless you stop, look closer, and pay attention.

There are no forced narratives.
No quest markers telling you what to feel.Meaning is found through observation — through objects left behind, scenes frozen in time, and small details that suggest what once happened, and what didn’t.The infected roam freely.
They are not puzzles or scripted encounters. They are a constant presence, shaping how you move, fight, and survive. Sometimes they block your path. Sometimes they remind you that noise, speed, and carelessness have consequences.Survival is simple, but never easy.

You will search abandoned locations for supplies, weapons, and vehicles. You will decide when to fight, when to avoid conflict, and when to move on. Every journey between locations carries risk, and every place you enter may offer safety, danger, or nothing at all. Some locations exist only to be passed through.
Others stay with you long after you leave.ROTEN does not rush you.
It does not explain itself. The world exists whether you are watching or not.

✦ AI summary

Players praise the game's nostalgic Unturned-like survival gameplay and satisfying weapon mechanics, with many noting strong potential despite its early access state. However, common complaints center on missing quality-of-life features like audio sliders and keybind customization, lack of tutorial or story content, poor loot variety, basic AI and UI, and concerns about whether the game will reach full development given its current feature-sparse state and £8.50 price point that many feel is too high for its current condition.

The game is in early development but it is very very promising. Honestly first thing i felt when i started playing was a rush of nostalgia from when i was a kid and played unturned. I love it!

This is absolute jank. I cannot understand the concept behind the game or why this was released in the state it is in. I went in as a solo player to try this since I got it for Father's Day. Here are my experiences with the game. No audio controls. Zombies scream the entire time you are punching them and you can't turn it down. No save option. You die? You start over. No tutorial of any kind. Where to go, what to do, nothing. Cannot find crafting mats other than stones. I fished up wood from the river but you won't find any laying under trees like you do in other games of this kind. Good luck finding the metal you need for the axe, I never saw any. NPC behavior makes no sense. Zombies respond to activity in a set area not LOS on the player. I can be 5 feet from group of zombies and they stand there looking at me, but if I walk into the area they are assigned, they immediately bum rush me. So you cannot lure them away and leave them in another place while you loot. I managed to kill some zombies by cheesing them to the end of the tether they are on and punching them. You have to punch one zombie 12 times to kill it. It punches you 3 times and you die. WTF, seriously? Can't …

Game is okay i dont see it being anything more as there are many projects like this that get unfinished. The assets are minimal and are mostly free packs. No to say there has not been any thought or work put into the game as it has some unique things. The Ui is basic and has no work put into it. No keybind editing No sound sliders Very basic character creation No information when highlighting items. Very basic AI that will aggro and spawn periodically around you giving no immersion Poor loot just beer and beer and fishing rods. I cant recommend this at £8.50 it is no way near worth it as there are way better games out there to buy in this category. This for me is a £2.99 to £3.99 Alpha game that even though it is in positive its got a long way to go to hit that £8.50 mark.

This is a great survival game with strong DayZ vibes. Even in early access, the weapons feel smooth and satisfying to use. The gameplay is challenging and keeps you engaged in the action. I'm really looking forward to future updates.
