S.P.I.K.E: ARENA, developed and published by 23:23 Team, is a compact indie arena brawler that embraces a minimalist design philosophy rooted in arcade sensibilities. Built around fast, competitive matches between simple geometric characters, the game focuses on immediate action rather than complex systems or narrative context. The premise is straightforward: small, cube-like fighters enter confined arenas, and only one emerges victorious. This stripped-down concept sets the tone for an experience that prioritizes accessibility, reflexes, and multiplayer chaos over depth or elaborate presentation. The gameplay revolves around short, intense bouts in 2D arenas where movement and timing are everything. Players can jump, dash, and attack within compact maps designed to keep combat tight and constant. Controls are deliberately simple, allowing newcomers to grasp the mechanics quickly. There are no intricate combo trees or layered character abilities to memorize. Instead, the challenge comes from positioning, reading opponents, and reacting swiftly. Because matches are brief, the game encourages rapid rematches, creating a rhythm that feels reminiscent of classic couch multiplayer game…
???
"If there are two cubes left in the world, one of them will want to kill another." That sounds like an epic description, but the game itself doesn't really demonstrate that. In my steam library the game is listed as S.P.I.K.E: ARENA but when I open the game, both the window and title screen list the game as S.P.I.C.E: ARENA. That tells me all I need to know about this game, it doesn't even know what it wants to be... You play as a cube, that fires elemental balls at the opponent, as your opponent does the same. Falling off the stage or getting hit makes you take damage. When you or the enemy's HP reaches 0, the other gets a point. You play against an AI opponent and the first to 3 points wins. However, the AI is so terrible that most of the time it will just walk off the stage, providing no challenge at all. If you're looking for something actually fun to play, I recommend you try out the developer's other game Try To Reach 10, which may actually provide you with some entertainment, but not this, avoid this one.
Not very good. It should be free. As one of the other reviewers said, you shouldn't play it for more than 6 minutes.
great game. The best game I ever played. better than doom eternal
I still don't know if the game is called SPIKE ARENA or SPICE ARENA.
