ARENA 8 is a lazy 2D retro pixel top down twin stick arena/wave survival shooter. Gameplay consists of very basic twin stick wave survival shooting in a simplistic arena. Weirdly this seems to have been built with BGE which is really for 3D games and not 2D crapware, but if you have a look at the catalog from PROATIV GAMES it's all shovelware like this, and seems to have been dumped on Steam as more of a cash grab. This is supported by the way it was dumped into DailyIndieGame bundles. Taking this seriously as a game, it's garbage. Locked resolution, locked controls. Ugly screen filter that can't be turned off. No graphics tweaks or way to improve the crappy visuals. A choice was made to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. The AI is also laughably poor. There's no value here as a serious PC game, this should be avoided.

ARENA 8, developed and published by Artur Rezende, is a compact and approachable twin-stick shooter that focuses on delivering fast-paced combat in a minimalist setting. Players are presented with a selection of eight distinct warriors, each equipped with unique abilities, allowing for varied playstyles and strategies. The game’s premise is straightforward: enter one of four progressively challenging arenas, defeat waves of enemies, and earn trophies to unlock further stages. This simplicity is a core aspect of the game, making it immediately accessible while still offering moments of tactical decision-making. The gameplay mechanics in ARENA 8 are designed with clarity and ease of use in mind. Movement is handled via the W, A, S, and D keys, while aiming and firing are controlled by the mouse, with primary and secondary abilities mapped to the left and right mouse buttons. This control scheme is intuitive, allowing players to focus on dodging, positioning, and timing attacks rather than struggling with complex inputs. The combination of movement and directional shooting creates a satisfying flow, particularly during intense waves of enemies, where players must react quickly and ad…

Belongs on itch as an abandoned demo.

The game isn't inherently awful. The combat is decently balanced. The only thing is once you reach the 12+ enemies stage, if you are melee you just have to hope there aren't lots of Outsiders. They are just OP against melee and with no way to heal you just die. The game timer isn't really necessary, not sure why there is one. Is it worth $1? No, but if you catch it on a plummet sale for 10c then it's alright I guess.
