There’s a lot I want to say about Scarlet and Blank, though most of it comes down to how deeply this incredible story touched me. I’d rather share those personal feelings directly with the developers, so here I’ll focus on the more straightforward aspects of the game.
Scarlet and Blank Can’t Be Read as Something Trivial
Take a seat. Make yourself comfortable. If you can, get some tea, coffee, or just water, and take a few minutes to meditate before playing this game. You’ll want to pay attention to every sentence and read slowly, trying to truly grasp the meaning behind the words. Francine Prose, who wrote Reading Like a Writer, describes this as the ideal way to read anything. But in a game as deep and atmospheric as Scarlet and Blank, this approach isn’t just ideal—it’s essential. So take your time. Pause between chapters if needed. As you read, treat the experience like a meditative activity, where music, voice acting, and meaning flow from every character. This game is short, and its plot is simple. Yet you’ll find complex emotions in every phrase. That’s why I feel it’s important to take your time, to reflect and feel each sentence. With every moment, I fo…3 found this helpful
It was hard to get behind some of the story's drama for the sake of drama. Musical pieces in some areas didn't seem to fit the mood the text was giving off, which I ended up finding funny rather than serious.2 found this helpful
i didn't write a review at the time i finished reading this.... BUT i do remember how much i LOVED it. I thought the writing was soooooo alluring. i don't even have the words to express how beautiful i thought the art was along with the text! i must say, for some, the mechanics may be irritating, and some of the music is ill-fitting. overall though, it's just such a beautiful atmospheric game that i wish had more to it!
Very pretty novel :)
Before I played Scarlet and Blank, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
