✦ AI summary

Players praise the game as a well-executed survivor-like with a unique pirate theme and engaging naval combat mechanics that distinguish it from competitors, with particular appreciation for its art style and performance on Steam Deck. The main complaint is poor controller support outside of actual gameplay, forcing players to use a mouse for UI interactions, alongside concerns about the game feeling incomplete with infrequent updates.

Controller support is almost non-existent, outside of the gameplay itself. I found myself having to use mouse in almost every UI interaction. Just, no. at least not yet. If things get improved, I will change the review.

It's not right for an EA game that hasn't had an update in a whole year to be rated "Very Positive." I'm just doing my part.

Really fun autoshooter with an addictive loop of bosses, islands, and looting. Once you really start synergizing your treasure hold, you can have some bonkers stat boosts that shred.

I've changed my opinion about this game; though it's a pig to control & keeping an eye on the cursor is tricky, the controller option is available but impossible, so I used a mouse; & some of the layout is cheap; there's is the basics to create a really good game if the devs polished it. The main problem with these games is lag; Sea of Survivors, happily is lag free. Grab it at 50% sale price & it'll be worthwhile.

A great survivor-like that feels different enough from the rest of the genre, with a satisfying sense of progression. Controlling your ship is responsive, and the meta-progression gives each run a meaningful sense of advancement. Exploring the procedurally generated high seas has been the most fun I've had sailing since AC: Black Flag (not saying the games are similar, you just commandeer a ship in both, that's it) That said, the game doesn't seem to be receiving many, if any, updates despite still being in Early Access. Once you've been through the loop enough times, don't expect many new worlds or events. It is what it is: a fun way to spend a few hours, and one I'd still recommend

I'm not sure how this is rated Very Positive. The menus don't function most of the time. The interface is wonky, terrible. It seems only half finished, and it's years old at this point. I wish something warned me that it was abandoned. I should have read the negative reviews before believing the Mostly Positive rating. Overall, starting the game was weird. I was thrown into a screen with a boat on first play, with no idea what to click, what to do. It wasn't difficult, but it was still just strange. This seems like someone's side project that they just forgot about, and only update when they hit a bug playing their end game save.
