Sentou Gakuen: Revival

Has a very poor introductory experience that warded me away from playing this game past the tutorial section. [list] [*]Character customisation is disappointingly lackluster, only offering a few, very stereotypical options that are chosen using a confusing slider UI. It certainly doesn't help that I am a nonbinary person, so there isn't even the possibility of designing a character that would fit me comfortably as a player. [*]Save system seemingly only uses autosaves, at least during the tutorial. It's pretty rough to not have that option in a visual novel. [*]Story and dialogue text couldn't be skipped through properly, so speed reading just wouldn't work and I was forced to wait through it all. [*]Generally, my impression is that this game runs on an incredibly outdated engine, and doesn't even come close to justifying the choice to do so. [/list] Due to having such a bad first impression, I refused to play the tutorial to completion.

I'm not going to lie. At first, I was confused, lost, and a little overwhelmed. BUT! After reading the starter guide (found it on the guides tab), and taking time to learn the ins and outs of the game? This has easily become one of my Top 5 MMORPGs of all time. What's here isn't going to be for everyone; this is a visual novel MMORPG which is already niche enough as it is. However, if you're at all interested in this kind of game? I'd honestly say give it a chance. The combat can be pretty fast paced - especially if you don't know what you're doing, but read the guide and give it some time. Once you start winning matches? It's like a rush I haven't felt in a long time for a game. Now, I've only started playing since yesterday, so maybe there's negatives I haven't seen yet and I'm willing to admit the game's customization - albeit nice, isn't as deep as it could be. That being said, what's presented as is? THAT game is completely worth your time. And it's freakin free, like, you aren't losing any money for trying it you know? Just hop in and have fun with it! Also, be on the lookout for ??? ???. I hear she's a bit creepy to interact with.

I like that I can play this game on Linux. It is very unfinished. You can still enjoy the "number goes up" aspect of this game. I played for around 15 days I think and I ran into four whole people and two of them were on the second day. I can play this game while doing other things so for that reason I like it a lot. I have the same complaints as a few others people and I'd like to see how it is when it gets completed so this is an early access review.

Ya know, i love everything about this title. My thing is how you got a DLC for a game thats in early access.
