I wanted to like this game. I wanted to like it so much, I played 7 hours of it. I can't. It's not a bad game. But there's so many things that are frustrating, that it's a death by a thousand cuts situation. That's your TLDR. Now onto the rant. Levels are massive. And mostly empty. On it's own it's not that bad, but you move very slow (unless you equip melee and use all your 7(!) dashes to move around). I immediately put stars into speed. And it's still not enough with how much you're gonna be backtracking sometimes. And the problem of giant maps is made even worse by the next problem. There's no good map. The garbage napkin drawing they give you in NATRISCA is basically useless. It does nothing. It doesn't say where colored doors are, it doesn't mark your position on the map, it doesn't even represent the level very good. It's just a vague drawing of some shapes, that look like a map. That's it. We had a usable map in Hammerwatch. What happened? We have colored doors galore, like in Doom, yet we have no map? They solved this in 90s! You just have to have a map. It's unexcusable. Weapons. There's a good selection of them. But! There's always a but in every aspect of this game. You'…

Criminally underrated, SSBD is one of crackshell's best games and sports a truly killer soundtrack by Damjan Mravunac. All hits, no filler.

Serious Sam's Bogus Detour is an inventive spin-off that proves a beloved action franchise can successfully reinvent itself without abandoning the qualities that made it popular in the first place. Developed by Crackshell in collaboration with Croteam and published by Devolver Digital, the game takes the traditionally first-person chaos of the Serious Sam series and transforms it into a fast-paced top-down shooter. While this change may initially seem drastic, the result is a surprisingly faithful adaptation that captures the spirit of the franchise through nonstop combat, outrageous enemy encounters, and an unwavering commitment to over-the-top action. The game sends players on a globe-spanning adventure that leads through a variety of environments, including scenic coastal regions, secret research facilities, and futuristic locations beyond Earth. Regardless of the setting, the core gameplay remains focused on survival against overwhelming numbers of enemies. Waves of hostile creatures flood the screen from every direction, creating the same frantic energy that fans of the mainline Serious Sam games have come to expect. Constant movement is essential, as standing still for even …

Barely played it but it's made by the people that made Hammerwatch. It's going to be good. Also very good price, especially on sale. Edit: Game is not working when navigating the menu in splitscreen.
