Serious Sam 3 is a frenetic arcade-style shooter where you hold down the trigger and obliterate endless waves of grotesque aliens and mercenaries across destructible Egyptian battlefields with a ridiculous arsenal of weapons. It's a love letter to old-school FPS action with zero cover mechanics, brutal melee finishers, and up to 16-player co-op chaos that doesn't take itself seriously for a second.
Serving as a prequel to the original indie and Game of the Year sensation, Serious Sam: The First Encounter, Serious Sam 3 takes place during the Earth’s final struggle against Mental’s invading legions of beasts and mercenaries.

Serious Sam 3: BFE is one of the most underrated games in the FPS genre. When it launched, a lot of people criticized it for being too slow, and many felt that aiming down sights and reloading had no place in a Serious Sam game. Personally, I think Serious Sam 3 strikes a great balance between modern FPS mechanics and the classic Serious Sam formula. That said, the game isn’t without its flaws. The biggest issue is the long stretch of interior levels, especially at the beginning of the campaign. These sections are slow, Sam’s movement feels sluggish, and they don’t capture the fast paced spirit that defines the series. They feel completely out of place compared to the outdoor levels. Once the game opens up, however, it becomes fantastic. Every outdoor level is brilliant and feels like a true evolution of the classic Serious Sam formula, delivering massive battlefields, huge enemy hordes, and nonstop action. The reloading mechanic is another minor downside, but the reload animations are so quick that they rarely become a problem during combat. He was in fact serious, and this was before the first encounter.
After playing that final level canyon section I think I may need to get serious about hanging myself. Worth it for Dunes though. Still pretty fun.
