Seyahat: A Journey to Mecca

Fantastic successor to Hajj Trail, which I played at the recommendation of an Ottoman art history professor in undergrad. Very much looking forward to the full game, and very much impressed with what's come out so far. The jump mechanics might benefit from a little tweaking; I fell a lot trying to get from the lower moving platform to the higher stationary one during the dream sequence. That's really the closest thing I have to a critique of the demo so far. Keep up the great work, Dr. Kynn!

A little underrated gem, it is really fun learning about the Ottoman Empire/Islamic history and other stuff as we travel to Mecca (although at this time we can only travel to Sarajevo for now). I absolutely love the art; Ottoman painting is very beautiful. Islamic histories are always underrated; I wish more people would make games based on them. I don't like much the font for the dialogues, but after a while I get used to it. It's also free, so yeah, just check it out; if you don't like it, you only lose your time. If you are interested and want to learn about the journey of the hajj and Islamic history. Then, you are in the right game.

I just finished the first day of the journey in this game. It is a atypical, story-driven pseudo-side scroller type of caravan RPG. I am still learning the controls (using keyboard for now) and how to play, view stats of caravan as a whole, change settings - there is a little bit of a learning curve. It's a little dialogue-heavy and text only, including tutorials. If you are sometimes not a careful reader, like me, or neglect to read a tutorial when prompted (I did this a lot initially because i didn't realize they were different tutorials) you may miss something... All that said, it is a beautiful, quirky, wonderful game. It has an old school vibe but everything looks fabricy and textured, which is really appealing, So far, the background music seems pretty simple and loops. I think it's possible if it continues this way that it might annoy me. Sound effects are minimal but fun. The story is unique and the setting is immersive. When you encounter people or places that folks may not be familiar with, you have the option to learn more about these things, which is neat and doesn't take you too far out of the game.
