Shapefighter

Shapefighter is an arena twin stick shooter, a bit like Geometry Wars with huge bosses. Earn extra bombs with pickups. The levels in between the boss levels are original and fun, however the bullet hell boss attack patterns are above my skill level. I am not that good at bullet hell. The game can be played with a dual stick controller, keyboard & mouse / pen tablet or one handed controller & mouse / pen tablet. Use Steam to remap any button. You can start from the beginning or at a level of your choice and forego earning achievements. You can also use continues.

A really cool game that focuses purely on gameplay! No shop, no gimmicks, no fluff, just pure arcade fun, just how games should be. It has beautiful visuals and really great control. I like that if you die enough, you can continue on from the last wave so that you can get used to the later enemies. For being only a few dollars, it is well worth it! Also, love the leaderboard system, has you something to fight for and I love that. Definitely reminiscent of arcade games of old.

Pretty straightforward Geometry Wars-like with a somewhat steeper difficulty ramp. I hesitate to say "clone" because that's what gets you in the door but this has good old shmupy bullet hell giant boss fights and throws new enemy types at you pretty quickly. I haven't played through a ton of it because I am old and my reflexes are bad but the controls are tight and you can really tell a lot of love went into it so it's easy to recommend, especially at such a low price point.

Lots of fun and works well on the Steam Deck.
