It's so underrated that it's confusing! Actually it may not be "-rated" at all. It's an invisible good game.

Skully feels like what happens when devs ask themselves “how do we turn chocolate mint ice-cream into a game?” There is almost not a single aspect of this game that is not designed to be as refreshing as physically possible. The physics, rolling speed, and level designs are as smooth as velvety butter, the lighting and visual value of the game feels like heaven’s tropical resort, the characters, their chemistry, their design, and even their dialogue is absolutely lovable, and if there’s a word for “the act that’s between running, skipping and flying, that you do across a horizon of adventure”, I’d use it to describe the Skully soundtrack. Also, the story and its plot twists leave nothing to be desired, and the ending was bold in all the best ways. Ironically, what I hated the most is the very game mechanic that the devs probably pushed for the most: the golems/mechs. I’m not even saying they’re badly implemented: I simply wished they never existed at all. They interfere with the aforementioned velvety butter smooth flow and speed, and every time I had to use one, I couldn’t wait to ditch it to go back to the speed flow. I can almost imagine the devs sitting in the design roo…

First of all I'd like to say that I rarely leave reviews, especially on games I didn't enjoy, but this needs to be said. I will attempt to be as fair as I can with this review. First, the good: The concept was interesting and amusing, and for about the first hour or so it was fun to play. The artwork was great, and I loved the music. The story was even fairly good, and the comedic nature of the occasional interjections by the siblings did make me laugh relatively often. Now the bad: While in skull form, the game handles like you're constantly on ice. Coming to a full stop, especially on say, a small platform was difficult to say the least. So of course the game is absolutely packed with platforming puzzles, most of which you have to do while in skull form. The game's idea of giving you an intro to any mechanics, are crude cave drawings that barely make any sense at times. That's if they even bother telling you about particular mechanics at all. I was three quarters of the way through the game and stuck so I consulted a walkthrough video, only to find out that you could reinhabit one of the golems after leaving it! As far as I'm aware, the game never tells you this. The checkpoin…

Skully is a 3D platformer developed and published by Finish Line Games that centers on an unusual protagonist: a small, animated skull brought to life by mysterious forces on a fractured island ruled by feuding deities. The premise immediately sets a whimsical yet mythic tone, blending light fantasy with character-driven storytelling. You take control of Skully, a once-lifeless skull revived by a clay goddess to serve as her champion. The island is on the brink of collapse due to the escalating conflict between three siblings, each embodying different natural elements, and Skully becomes an unlikely mediator navigating the chaos. At its core, Skully is built around physics-based rolling mechanics. Unlike traditional platformers where characters run and jump in predictable arcs, Skully moves primarily by rolling, which introduces a constant sense of momentum. Traversing slopes, launching off ramps, and maintaining balance across narrow platforms become central challenges. When the movement flows well, it feels smooth and kinetic, encouraging players to maintain rhythm and control. However, the same physics-driven design can also introduce unpredictability, especially when precision…
