About Sorrow Asylum

Dark thoughts, sadness, loneliness, depression.
The unsafe parts of your mind.
Do not explore them for too long.

Sorrow Asylum is a looping horror game, a mix of an abandoned asylum and your mind's prison. The longer you stay, the deeper you sink.
Explore the asylum of sadness, where time stops, unless you progress by taking the calendar pages into your room down in the basement of the asylum. The longer you stay in this place, the more horrors will try and stop you, fix you, change you, the more the whole place gets affected by your presence.

You'll meet the creatures of such a place: Lara and Plague Doctor.

Lara seems like just another patient, who's room is right next to yours, but it is not always clear whether she's helping or going against you.
The Plague Doctor may try to treat you, but he also does it painfully or simply stopping you from making the time move and damaging you in the process.

The game has 15 day cycles to offer, where the asylum gets progressively more and more sinister and dangerous. The player has the options to run and hide, but often needs to simply confront the unknown and keep learning the story of this place and its citizens.

The evil can be locked up.
Prison. Grotto. Asylum.
These unsafe places will manifest through you.

Psychological horror + walking simulator. Go into the mind of a person suffering from depression and try to help him. Walkthrough: https://youtu.be/rwtDZHPaL_I As the main character, you are locked in the "Sorrow Asylum". This is a small, gloomy location consisting of several rooms. Your task is to survive for 15 days. To do this, you need to collect the calendar pages and bring them to your room. As you progress, you gain access to new rooms, meet the ghost of your neighbor Lara, who committed suicide, and run away from the mysterious Plague Doctor. The “Asylum of Sorrow” symbolizes the place where a depressed person tries to hide from their problems/mental illness. Lara and the Plague Doctor are creatures generated by the sick mind of the hero. They symbolize the struggle between his desire to die and his desire to live/cure his depression. They are trying to get him out of the nightmare, but the main character does not want to get out, he wants to remain locked forever. Психологический хоррор + симулятор ходьбы. Didn't know what to expect with this one, but was very pleasantly surprised! They managed to pull off those PT vibes while keeping a completely unique feel to their game. It took me a good 10 minutes to figure out what I needed to do to progress the game (even tho they give a good hint in the instructions section), but once I did, man did the game start to ramp up. The creepy factor in this one is 10/10 and had me on edge the whole time. Sound design is good, movement is smooth, and I didn't run into any bugs or glitches while playing. Not sure I completely understood the storyline, it definitely is dark. So be prepared to be hit with some dark themes that may be triggering for some. Looking forward to playing the sequel! Thank you so much for letting me review your game Vidas!

Vidas was kind enough to toss me a key for this game and fortunately I enjoyed it! The one downside I found was the inability to lower the volume of the game. There are times in the game when it gets very loud and I would have liked to have it lowered a bit. Other than that, loved the gameplay, the sound design, and the ability to use the PT mentality but completely revamp it and make it your own. Will certainly need to try more of Vidas Games!
