I had this game on my wishlist for 3 and a half months, waiting for some patches as the initial reception was pretty poor. I was willing to hold hope that they could fix the game and make a fun experience as the art style and character design are undeniably charming. For the most part the devs at Kiro team did just that with a few asterisks. Souno's curse is not a perfect game, it has a lot of issues but it's one of those cases where the positives outweigh the negatives, hence the recommendation. The biggest issue is the difficulty curve due to a lack of healing and some clunky controls paired with tough level design. Getting hit in Souno's curse deals about 1/4th of your health initially with no way to heal except for resting at a bonfire. There's sections that go on for a long time between checkpoints which feel very frustrating without any way to recover health. The 1st biome is pretty fine in regards to this but the 2nd biome especially becomes an exercise in frustration. Funnily enough the 3rd biome is a lot easier again, leading to an uneven difficulty curve. I'm not saying they should make the 3rd biome harder, just that the 2nd one could use some revisions. The game is fil…5 found this helpful
I want to start by saying that I backed the game on kickstarter and I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far. The music is lovely and I love the character design. It's been a lot of fun to explore and learn the map (I was always fine with the game being mapless, but I appreciate seeing the devs respond to those criticisms and are planning to add one) However, the combat could certainly use some work. Hit boxes feel a little inconsistent sometimes and I'm struggling to understand the use and timing of the dodge roll, especially in the 2nd boss fight The game isn't perfect, but I still think it's enjoyable and would recommend people give it a chance3 found this helpful
I supported this game on Kickstarter because the art style looked interesting and I hoped it'd get more polished. It never did, and I never even ended up playing it, makes me sad to even make this review but this game had enough funding to be much much more fleshed out, and now, looks effectively abandoned by the devs, which moved onto another project.1 found this helpful
This is in the same genre as "Hollow Knight" in terms of being a third-person game with very nice artwork, which is why I supported it on Kickstarter. Unfortunately, by the developer's own admission in comments on KS it is very much designed for those playing with a controller; those playing on PC with keys, as I do, will find the limited control keys layout very frustrating, with no option to change their configuration (as one example the ESC key, which traditionally brings up the Quit/Save Game/Config menu in most games, is disabled). Unfortunately, cannot recommend for PC gamers.1 found this helpful
I kickstarted this thing and it was a mistake. Don't buy it lmfao
Well since I backed this on KS I guess it's time to finally play it two months late.... I wasn't expecting it to be this colorful as it is. I'm not sure if handdrawn is using Microsoft paint 🤔 it's def Indie af. Most areas ya get hit, ya get push back to room entrance. One time I repsawned off screen on other side of room where I was just at talking to Gottrey. Some how I made it back on screen after few. . And the biggest pev of mine bout this game is there's no map but I guess as small as it is I see why . As 881 backs it puts me as the 8th review on steam.somehow. mainly why imma beat this game is to see if my name credits actually made it as it was a subject of one my tiers. Other than that it plays on deck & one achievement that is missable. So it's neat as devs 1st game. Hope to see them make something bigger & better next time. The two out three👎 reviews hit on real truths. There elements that make this challenging. I here to offset those bad reviews.
