Spacegolf!

Okay, buckle up folks. This is something I have barely, if ever, witnessed in my nearly 36 years playing video games. I laughed, I cried, I got angry, I got happy again, annoyed, I love this game, I have no clue what the developers were smoking when they created this beautiful gem of a game that makes me wanna rip my hair out of my head and then want to have dinner with this amazing game! Oh wait, that's the Nier series... Haha Okay, so most of that is inaccurate, but it is also mostly accurate, too! I love this game! I wish more games were like this. I had a hootin' and hollerin' time while playing this golf game! So the basics are pretty fun. You golf in "SPACE" while dealing with moving planets with gravity and antigravity. So these levels are very fun, very easy, and very challenging all at the same time. Sometimes I get lucky and sometimes I get a 29 on a par 2. NO OTHER GOLF GAME DOES THAT! Okay, now to the funny stuff. And man, is it a plenty! There is this weird, yet good looking guy (it's 2025 guys, I call it like I see it) named Dr. Brettenstein. He has these like pop ups after the holes are done and either praises you in an odd way, or he berates you for fainly spe…

This game really surprised me. Yeah, it’s a bit short, but I honestly enjoyed every minute of it. The dialogue is great, especially the video clip parts, which were way more fun than I expected. And it’s not just some goofy golf game either. There’s an actual story going on, and it pulled me in more than I thought it would. Overall, a really lovely little game. Legitimately fun, short, and sweet. It's a cross between mini-golf and Kerbal Space Program, with a goofy but sweet storyline, and some really solid level design and progression. Some levels you can cheese your way through with little putts, just bypassing all the puzzles... But eventually you start to speak the game's language and you can land some really satisfying hole-in-ones, understanding what the level's supposed to be about. Had a really good time with it. Would love to see some more levels that amp the complexity way up.

This game was a surprisingly good find in a "let's see what released on steam this week" run my friends and I did. The things I liked: - The golfing system is intuitive, but not easy enough that the levels get boring (I think I scored a 23 on a par 8). Very cool mechanics overall and a great base system. - The robot companions are very cute (shoutout to the little dingo guy). - We found the "introductory video" very funny, especially because it can't be skipped, and the video even nods to that fact. The little post-round evaluations by Dr. Brettenstein are also pretty good. The things I didn't like: - The spacemonkey showing up mid-round should be reevaluated imo. The bots keep talking during the game, so trying to golf, follow the conversation, and then also pierce through the noise of the spacemonkey talking was an annoying bit of information overload. - Some of the dialogue is unskippable, even when it's like 2 words. The cutscenes are too, but I think that's funny. - Weird amount of sex jokes. While they're not overt, it was a little odd to see them in a game that's otherwise great for kids. This game was legitimately so fun to play! It had a surprisingly heartwarming message, was incredibly funny, and had a cool concept for golf! Please play it its so good :)))
