Fun game, maybe add a little 2 frame animation to the main for walking

Specter Inspector is a really interesting little horror game because it does something I do not see very often. Instead of simply putting the entire game in its own window, it actually uses my desktop as part of the experience. I play as a paranormal inspector named Bobert and have to work through a training simulator while dangerous specters begin appearing around me. I liked the idea immediately because the game feels like it is trying to blur the line between the game and my actual computer. The main gameplay revolves around exploring an increasingly dangerous graveyard while using different tools to deal with the specters. My EMF device helps me detect supernatural activity, while the battery powered EMP can stun the spirits and give me an opportunity to get past them. I enjoyed having to pay attention to what was happening around me instead of simply attacking everything I saw. The tools give the game a nice survival feeling despite the relatively simple gameplay. The window mechanic is probably the thing that makes Specter Inspector stand out the most for me. Cute lil spooky game and pretty creative!

I almost gave this a positive review because it's attempting a unique concept but that concept is largely designed to annoy the player. I could have given it a pass with square hitboxes but the hitbox that only occupies 2/3 of your character is annoying when your field of view is so limited. Finally once they introduce the EMP mechanic you realize this is more or less a puzzle game that is as annoying as possible to execute.
