Ghost Master? No, not even close. That was a frenetic affair with spectral orchestra keeping the tone as tense as the environment you were maintaining, three or four ghosts on full automatic trying to ping-pong mortals between them to build belief in a hurry and keep the fear flowing while you worked on whatever puzzle element was required, like getting the evidence room guard to wander off so the bent cop can sneak in and steal while Blue Murder is watching. No, faster! The ghost council doesn't care if the NPCs aren't cooperating, you need to drive Gravenville's residents into the streets in twenty minutes or less to get that three pumpkin rating! Here, everything is so quiet that I can barely hear the author talk about his pound of flesh, nobody knows how to automate their skills and your average mortal can be driven from fine to right out of the map in one scare if you've done your prep work. The rating doesn't mean more gold plazm for upgrading your spooks (they can't be upgraded or taught new skills), so there's no real pressure to optimize. Ghost Keeper seeks to emulate Ghost Master's puzzles rather than the gleeful mayhem you unleash once you've freed all the ghosts,…2 found this helpful
As a spiritual successor to Ghost Master, this game is very well done! Pun only slightly intended there, by the way. The powers available to the various ghosts in Ghost Keeper are much darker in tone than Ghost Master's were, and that lends it a proper sinister feeling more than that title. The graphics are nice as well, which I'm grateful for because going back to the original GM is a little harder on the eyes these days. Some of the humans tend to get stuck in some manner and need to be dislodged from their "frozen with fear" pathing lockdown with an interrupt power. My only real gripe thus far is that the game is way too short! The Early Access notice is welcomed because it gives me hope that the developer has more missions, and hopefully more ghosts, in store for the future.1 found this helpful
I loved Ghost Master this game may end up better if they keep working at it! It seems a little easier to add ghosts to rooms than Ghost Master. Definitely need the Headless Horseman!
I got around 5 hours of fun, spooky gameplay from this game before requiring new content and deciding to put it back on the shelf till dev´s work has progressed... It´s technically stable and fun so far, but devs announced end of EA, so... probably not seeing much content update to this. Maybe pay for content DLCs. Game got to little content for my taste. Take a look at the gametime of other players. 2 hours, 5 hours, 12 if you do locations again in sandbox mode.
I’m hoping this game will become what Ghost Master could have been in the age of online patches and fixes. It has the Ghost Master vibe from the very beginning, maybe a little less comedic. First impression: Ghost Master Remastered. But that’s only an impression, because there are a lot of changes. Finally you can actually kill mortals! Finally ghost powers have detailed descriptions of how they work! Those are probably the two most important changes. The game is still in very early Early Access, and I haven’t played it for long, but it looks great so far and I have very high hopes for it.
Wow this game feels so much like Ghost Master and your supporting an actual company as ppl who made original GM are defunct. There some issues such as killing people way too easy and I find the ghostbusters too easy to deal with. But if you like being the bad guy, playing the original ghost master or just like non horror games about ghosts and demons def buy this.
