Sprinter

Sprinter is a simplistic "runner" game where you run an awkwardly controlled minimalist charcoal/chalk illustration of a man through a little obstacle course, tapping keys on your keyboard to open doors and distract enemies which makes you wonder what this runner did that made him so unpopular with the people of the world. Maybe he made a really bad game like "Sprinter" and that's why he's unpopular. Who knows. There's apparently some backstory but the game implementation here is so lazy and low effort, it's not worth getting into. The game is very simplistic, small and limited in scope and ambition. This feels more like a tech demo, proof of concept or student homework assignment rather than a fully fledged product designed for PC gamers. As such it doesn't offer any real value as a serious PC game. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. Very fun and chill game, main complaint is I wish the game was harder. Also the story didn't really do it for me but that's not why i played the game anyway, as the gameplay is very fun.

Sprinter is a reaction based runner game. It has a simple user interface and a very nicely “drawn” graphics style. Despite the design and the pacing of the game, I cannot recommend it. Sprinter introduces you to a tutorial where the mechanic of the game is revealed. You guide the character to run along hallways and you must press buttons to clear doors, cameras and guards in your path. You are then introduced to the story of the game, which entails a young girl, her mother and her father. I finished chapter 1, which included six levels of hallways, and I still don't understand how the game (running through hallways around guards and cameras) relates to this girl and her family. Now when you finish each chapter an opportunity opens up to play the chapter again and improve your time. This feels very gimmicky as the hallways do not have that much content to them and I already spent several tries on some of the hallways (An average run takes 6 – 7 seconds and I spent 15 minutes playing the game before stopping). [b]CONTROLLER IS REQUIRED![/b] Difficult game that requires timing, memory reflex, and a lot of patience if going for the gold timers. Sadly the story gets overshadowed by the difficulty of the gameplay. If you're not an achievement hunter, this game may be ideal for you. Otherwise avoid as the gold timers in Chapter 5 are brutal.

I am used to play jump-and-run and other games in that near genre. I am unable to play this with Keyboard nor Steam-Controller. Hitting the right Keys or pushing specific Controller-Buttons in the right time (whenever this might be) sounds not that hard, but because of the sluggish movement of the model and the distrubingly inaccurat positioning of the Model using the JoyStick of the Controller you have to start over and over again. I got really sick of this even during the intro which is suppose to help you to start. But I've got more and more angry about it and myself as well, so I've uninstalled. It's not worth my time.

Warning : Challenging game. Second warning : I spoil the gameplay actions. Don't read if you wanna discover through the game. The game asks you to take control of a character and push on various buttons at the right time to distract/disable the obstacles. You have to guide your character in a succession of corridors at the same time as pushing A to open doors, X to distract the guards, up to disable the cameras, LT to steal keys and open chests, RT to charge a dash and B to use slow-motion. You have to use all those actions very rapidly and numerous times to finish the levels. The game is separated in 6 chapters and you unlock new actions at every chapter until chapter 5, where the last levels are a combination of everything you learned. You have to finish the levels under a given time, and once you finished the 5 levels of a chapter, you unlock the possibility to do the levels again with an harder time to beat, the golden time. I had fun with the game, it feels like you achieve something when you beat the hardest level in gold time, so it is satisfying. It's kinda short, but it was a good experience overall.
