"Squaretrail: Lines of The Frame" is a laughably unambitious attempt to see if someone can burn $100 on Steam Direct. The mission was a success, $100 was absolutely wasted on Steam Direct. This is a rotating map physics puzzle. It's worse in all respects than Russian asset flips of pre-made rotating ball puzzles like RotateX (and that is better than this, even though it is awful, yet has a positive review score because the Russian asset flipper behind that mess paid for fake reviews to scam gamers). I think it says a lot when gamers need to know this is even worse than a Russian scam in terms of "being a game". What do you do in the game? Rotate the map to make the "ball" go where it has to go, that's it. This game features very lacklustre minimalist "art" for graphics instead of anything remotely contemporary. I'm sure the "developer" thought this would come across as "artistic", but it doesn't, it comes across as "really lazy". Yes, contemporary 3D graphics take a lot of time and effort to create. Squaretrail: Lines of The Frame is a puzzle platformer that I found more enjoyable than I expected from such a simple idea. I am controlling a cube through small square shaped worlds, with the main trick being that I can rotate the entire world to change the way I move through each level. The basic controls are easy to understand, but the levels gradually make me think more carefully about where I am going and when I should rotate the world. I like games like this because the rules are simple while the actual solutions can still make me stop and think. The world rotation is easily the best mechanic for me. I can move with WASD and rotate the level using E and Q, so I am constantly looking at the same space from a different angle and trying to work out how that changes my route. Sometimes I can simply walk across a new surface after rotating everything, while other sections require better timing and more precise movement. I enjoyed figuring out these little solutions because the game does a good job of making me think about the level as one connected object rather than a normal platforming stage.
