Star Merc is an open world rpg where player choices heavily affect outcomes.
You assume the role of a manufactured space mercenary who is instructed on basic mission details and sent on his way expected to complete the objectives his creators have set. However, it is the players who decide what orders to follow and who from, the game provides many different choices that heavily affect situations, outcomes and relations within the game. Players also have the freedom of traveling to different planets and locations searching for loot, missions or shady business.

RPG Maker strikes again! Star Merc is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. I think in this case there's some custom pixelcrap assets alongside the copy + pasted stock RPG Maker assets from Kadokawa. I say that because this looks somewhat worse, visually than the usual Andorlea asset flips that infest the Steam store. It's also eschewing the traditional fantasy anime fanfiction for a traditional sci-fi anime fanfiction, although comparing two kinds of garbage isn't really a productive way to spend our time. Also notable that the developer couldn't even work out how to use RPG Maker properly (even though it is, as they say, simple enough for a child), so there's some script errors in various parts of the game... no surprises that the quality of an RPG Maker construction kit job like this is low in terms of game design …4 found this helpful
Paid for space opera, got space soap opera. Ship drifts like my ex’s texts, lasers tickle asteroids, yet I keep grinding for pixel pizza. Dev gods, never patch the fun.

I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try...
