About Star Salvager

STAR SALVAGER is inspired by vintage arcade classics from the '80s...

Let us take you back to a happier time... when everything was neon... and video game consoles were the size of refrigerators.

FEATURES:
  • Original combo-making - think TETRIS meets BREAKDANCING IN SPACE.
  • SPACE INVADERS combat. SO wicked excellent.
  • Randomly generated maps. Each run is CRAZY different. (Okay not that different)
  • A roguelite metagame to keep you grinding for morsels of progress 'til you can’t remember what day it is.
  • Mildly entertaining dialogue by 2d characters who don’t move their lips.
  • A killer synth soundtrack that’s worth the price of the game right there.

WARNING: Side-effects may include uncontrollable disco dancing, embarrassing voice acting, and the occasional brain melt. Our team is working hard to resolve these issues.

This is a puzzle roguelike with meta progression. It's quite baffling that the devs decided to use one of the worst progression system that only works for short and simple games like 00s flash games or vampire-survivor-likes. Vampire Survivor is a simple action roguelite where meta progression is fun because the gameplay is so simple. It's also not that deep. But what would happen if you tried to attached that kind of meta progression to Slay the Spire? It would completely fall apart! Star Salvager has a game structure similar to Slay the Spire, except it has meta progression like Vampire Survivors, where the game gets easier the more time you play it, because you can start the game with more Health, more Damage, more currency, etc... It's absolutely baffling that the developers made that decision. After trying 3 more times, you might not actually have gotten better at the puzzle, but you just started the game with more health and upgrades so.... Progress? The actual gameplay is ok. It's like solving a match-3 /puyo puyo on a rotating base, while playing space invader at the same time. It's not bad but it's not as satisfying as any classic arcade puzzle games. For example it's v…

I did some QA for this game and it really grew on me. Discovering new powerful part and salvage combinations over multiple runs is very rewarding and once I got the hang of harmonic shapes it was like a whole new game with the puzzle element.

Really fun little game. Kind of like a combination of Tetris, Candy Crush, and R-Type, set to 80s synthwave. Quite a lot going on, can be a bit overwhelming at first but when you get into the flow of it you can get some great synergies going with the different blocks, movements and attacks. Met the developers at the Insomnia convention, a small and dedicated indie team, and enjoyed playing the game a lot there. Would definitely recommend if you want a game that's a novel arcady spin the traditional tile-matching genre.

This game is super unique! The story and dialogue is super cute and witty. Gameplay is super responsive, arcade chaos. I played with a controller and thought it felt good.

Nice roguelike Shmup/Puzzle game. IT has alot of build options (get it?) and there's multiple ways to win once you understand the game

This is challenging! And the description is definitely accurate; it feels like playing Tetris and Space Invaders with a unique twist. Even though I am very terrible at it, I'm looking forward to playing more! Great game!
