About Startup Panic

living the Dream

Manage your time as a bedroom programmer. Pick projects, contract-work and vacation days to get by, then start to build some passive income through your startup.
Beware though: Once you start hiring your first employees and upgrading your office, you'll attract the attention of competing businesses...

don't Panic!

  • You decide how each project goes and what to focus on
  • Spend a week training your staff, or earning money, or building features... but choose wisely!
  • Upgrade your company in the skill tree: Will you take longer vacations or cheaper air-co?
  • Hunt for new employees and hire the ones that fit your style: Social butterfly? Marketing expert? Lone Wolf?
  • Compete with rival CEOs for new users in your region, and then expand out by building new headquarters on a world map!
  • Hurting for cash? You can take out a loan or search for investors, but don't think it'll come for free...

Your motivation mechanics need work. The data stored in Reviews are also annoying, just display what tech/useability/aesthetic point I got last time, instead of making me re-calculate the point by only displaying the staff skillpoints and % used last time.

Startup Panic is a colorful and often humorous business management simulation that attempts to capture the emotional rollercoaster of building a tech startup from nothing. Developed by Algorocks and published by tinyBuild, the game places players in the role of an aspiring entrepreneur who abandons an unsatisfying job to chase the dream of running a successful tech company. Rather than striving for hardcore realism, the game frames the startup journey through satire, exaggeration, and accessible systems that make it welcoming even to players with little experience in management simulations. The early stages of the game are grounded and engaging, starting with a single developer working from home and juggling limited resources. Players must decide how to spend their time between contract work for immediate cash and investing in their own product for long-term growth. This tension forms the backbone of the experience, forcing constant trade-offs between survival and ambition. Money is always tight at the beginning, and every decision—whether to upgrade equipment, train skills, or hire a new employee—feels consequential. The game does a good job of making these early hours feel perso…

Yes I 100% this game, would that mean after spending such an amount of time on this game and even getting all the achivements I could recomend it, well, unless you like bugged achivements that won't get trough unless you restart the game hopping it will finally work, during many of thoses retry I also come with a small (big) issue of the third competitor not showing up. Yes the game is good but frustrating, especially if you want to 100% it, i'd suggest to get it on sale at best.

The core game is alright, but it has a bunch of bugs, has in my opinion bad balance and weird logic for some of the gameplay and contains a good amount of spelling mistakes. For example, the last studio part would never unlock for me, and marketing seemed to have no effect on anything.
