About Steamroll
Steamroll is an adventure and puzzle game with a touch of minigolf. It creates a steampunk atmosphere where you will have to solve puzzles by designing and shooting steamballs from your vehicle to create ramps, walls, activate triggers, blow things away, and more.
In Steamroll you are a young engineer in his first day of work and take control of the Scarabeus, the greatest new steam-fuelled vehicle invention, while you try to survive in a crumbling mine and look for a way out.
Half beetle, half armadillo, this amazing rolling vehicle can transform and deploy itself into certain bases. This allows you to fill the steam tank and, most important, to shoot steamballs.
In its shooting form, the Scarabeus is connected to an underground resources tank. From there, you'll have to find out the best angle to solve the puzzles this mine proposes. Precision and calculus are needed to push buttons, activate switches and open doors.
These small spheric devices can be shot in several angles and intensity. You'll have to be careful using them, you'll have a limited amount of resources in each deployment base. Steamballs can be filled with latest technology inventions, which will deploy after the steamball is shot.
Walls will allow you to create surfaces in which steamballs will bounce.
Explosives might be very useful to get rid of garbage and obstacles.
Placed correctly, a ramp is the best way to reach higher places.

Steamroll is an excellent, high quality & atmospheric (but underrated) puzzle game, and it hurts to see negative reviews with 0.5 hours of playtime. Background: by the time of this review, only 19.6% of players received the very first achievement (the last one, "We did it!" — only 2.2% of players). Maybe the game ended up in the hands of those who don't usually play puzzles and wanted some kind of action instead. Or mini golf. Bugs? — none. Confusing controls? — no, everything is felt in place. It's a puzzle with a complex steampunk mechanism, and difficulty after first levels will increase, and all controls will make sense. Repetitive? — Nope. There are only 18 levels and ~6 hours of playtime. 'Shooting' puzzles combined with driving. Yes, I didn't feel like I want to play the full game in one seat, but it's hardly an issue. Overall, great puzzle game, and with a story.4 found this helpful

I wanted to like this. I like collision games, angles, snooker and pool, mini-golf, carom billiards, etc. But this game is just way too buggy. The physics are insane and I couldn't even get my ball up a simple ramp in one of the puzzles. If they fix the physics bugs (but I doubt they ever will) then I'd re-buy this game in a heartbeat. But as it stands I gave it an hour and I had to refund. I simply cannot play this game due to the physics glitches.1 found this helpful

While the gameplay may be solid I have to rate it down as any game that has a trading card with just the letter K and grants 3 or more cards that it gives for free should have the foresight to not have a card named K or modify the name of the card retroactively even if the characters name is "K." I don't care much for checking my inventory and seeing KKK. Other's have compared this to The Ball and noted what makes it a decent if not good puzzle game. The theme is solid as well. I just have little patience for well known and rooted things to avoid.
A very entertaining game. It reminds me of Portal set to a SteamPunk environment. Unfortunately it hangs at level 8 (unless the bug is actually part of the game?). The goal seems to obtain the ramp ball using the given 3 steam balls while at the same time opening the gate and activating the draw bridge. I have succeeded and the controls say the ramp ball shooter is activated. However, the ramp ball counter does not acknowledge it and stays at 00! Email to developers went unanswered. I believe that if the malfunctioning ramp ball shooter was part of the game there would be some mention of it during the ongoing dialogs. If anyone knows something feel free to advise me.
