About Sub Terra Draconis
Newly hatched from an egg, our young dragon searches for the important things in life. And to a dragon, that means treasure! Search underground mazes and solve elaborate puzzles in your quest for gems, and see if you can hoard enough to impress the other dragons!
A classic puzzle challenge, featuring over 120 levels and many different objects including treasure chests, replicators, floating balloons, fire beams, thieving elves, conveyor belts, gravity switches, and many more! Between all these traps, the levels require a good mixture of reflex action and thoughtful planning; and the varied mechanics keep things interesting to solve.
The puzzles are fair: no luck-based puzzles, no searching for walls you can walk through, and all time limits are optional. Finally, a powerful level editor lets you make your own levels and share them on the Steam workshop.

✦ AI summary
Players praise Subterra for its excellent puzzle variety, creative level design, and well-balanced difficulty that caters to different play styles through optional challenges like speed runs and gem collection. Common concerns include the game's steep learning curve and lengthy levels that require significant planning and time investment, along with niche appeal due to the demanding nature of logic puzzle games.
Just an excellent game! Love variety of puzzles and level design!5 found this helpful
This game is cool, I always like a game with a cool dragon protagonist, but it's also very challenging/difficult as it says indeed! I think this is an older type of puzzle game? I haven't played other ones like this though. Note that a lot of the levels can be quite long (not only in time but also planning on top) so be prepared to have to set aside a bit of time for a level. I do like how when you restart from a flag time pauses until you move again, it makes it easier to break up a level into different sections of logic. Levels can also feature enemies as stated, which makes the game not only just a logic puzzle but also requires good timing and execution in addition. This is probably a game I'll come back to every so often to beat a few more of the puzzles, due to the length and time commitment per puzzle (to prevent burnout).3 found this helpful
Ever played Beetle Ju as a kid? Here you can find a similar idea except instead of finding a way to cleverly kill all the enemies here it's about getting through the puzzles to the exit. And it's the heavy puzzle one so be ready! I couldn't resist a dragon protagonist but alas I'm horrible at logic games so had to drop it fairly quickly but nonetheless I can tell it's lovely for what it is. Has a story and puzzles get more complex very quickly with more pieces being added while the game is not that short as far as I can research. It's really sad that such great ideas fall to obscurity (same happens with Chromatic Fantasy) simply because the genre is not very appealing due its natural trait of being, well, puzzling ^^"2 found this helpful
The original Subterra was THE puzzle game of my childhood. I love everything here. It features plenty of different mechanics, and yet doesn't feel overwhelming. There are different types of levels to suit your preferences (or mood): some need long pre-planning, some check your reaction speed, some require a lot of trial and error, and some are just a relaxing maze stroll where you just need to not make any wrong moves. Each level has an optional Greed gem requirement which is basically an optional hardmode (I usually strive to achieve this), and the timer is optional as well (I personally hate timers in puzzle games, so I never aim for a Speed star). Puzzles feel challenging but not overwhelming, they achieve the perfect balance. The solutions aren't completely rigid, you usually have a small room for mistake here. I can't help but compare this game to Baba Is You, which was way too hard for me, and each level required a _very_specific_ solution and god forbid you make a single step wrong. So if you're a fun of puzzle games with above-average-but-not-godlike difficulty, this game is for you.1 found this helpful
