Super Nate Adventure

[h1] It takes more than that to make a good Super Mario Bros. alternative. Color palette is interesting. Level design is not half bad here offering some variety in terms of obstacles and foes. Main problem is that it doesn't offer much than beloved SMB. Even so nuances added to the game would make it much more interesting. So far it feels pretty basic so it's your call if you wanna play another Mario clone without spark. [/h1]

"Super Nate Adventure" is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This is a really badly made Super Mario Bros ripoff (I hope Nintendo sues)... a short (12 level) platformer with sloppy controls, lazy pixelcrap "art" and absolutely zero reason for anyone to play it. It was a dismal failure here on Steam Direct. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games …

Doesn`t save progress. Stay away.

This title is a competent little platformer. It's nothing unlike other 2D platformers you most likely have played before *cough* Mario *cough* (albeit on the more difficult side) but the controls feel good and that's the most important thing with this kind of game. I'd recommend the game to anyone who wants something familiar that doesn't outstay its welcome.
